Title: The Clock Will Tick Away The Hours
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iamshadow
Fandom: CSI
Pairings: Nick/Greg
Rating: R
Word Count: 4,254
Summary: The bite marks take a week or so to fade, and when they do, you miss them.
Content: Hurt/comfort, episode tag, one night stands, comfort sex, awkwardness, mild d/s, biting, bruises.
A/N: The canon period of time for this story is between It Was A Very Good Year (s13e04) and Fallen Angels (s13e07), but there are references to events from past seasons, specifically, to A Kiss Before Frying (s11e12). Also, the timeline in this story is kind of stretched out. I know dates as they appear in the eps often correlate to actual air dates/present day, but I haven't gone through and worked it out, so for the purposes of this story, several months go by between the episodes in question.

I am counting this as a light fill for the power dynamics square of my round two Trope Bingo card. I think it counts as being at least a little subversive, because the power dynamics between Nick and Greg aren't the focus of the story, but more a happy accident of compatibility between them once they finally work shit out.

The title comes from a Sinatra song, because Sinatra was the working title of the fic, even though his music barely features.

Title: Scar Tissue and Soft Cotton
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iamshadow
Fandom: CSI
Pairings: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG
Word Count: 2,533
Summary: From the way Greg scrapes his composure together whenever anyone walks in his lab, he seems to think or hope that no one else has noticed how fragile he is.
You have, but every time you decide to say something, it feels like someone's hand is on your shoulder, holding you back, keeping you from shattering the illusion. It's your instinct to show kindness, but in this case it feels a little too close to cruelty to mention that you've seen the cracks in his armour.
Content: Hurt/comfort, episode tag, friends to lovers, first time.
A/N: I wrote this fic purely because I wanted to play with the emotional and physical fallout of the lab explosion. Though getting blown up isn't a traditional rite of passage, it was an important part of Greg's evolution and maturation from lab rat to field mouse, so I'm counting this as a fill for my coming of age/rites of passage square for trope-bingo, though I didn't write it with that aim in mind and only checked my card for complementary themes after the story was complete.

Title: Murder Backwards
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iamshadow
Fandom: CSI
Pairings: Gen, Greg & Nick
Rating: G
Word Count: 2,263
Summary: Let it go, Warrick says, and though he's a friend, Nick can't just smile and pretend it doesn't matter that Catherine did what she did.
Content: Hurt/comfort, episode tag (s07e13: Redrum), friendship.
A/N: This isn't a songfic, but in the course of looking for a title for this story, I stumbled across a song called Murder Backwards by Wind In Sails, and by sheer coincidence, the lyrics are all about letting go of the past and moving forwards. It's pretty nice guy-and-guitar melancholy stuff, so if that's your thing, you can watch the film clip on Youtube or buy a digital copy of the album from the band website.

Title: Dichotomy
Author: [livejournal.com profile] iamshadow
Fandom: CSI
Pairings: Gen, could be read as very subtle pre-slash Nick/Greg
Rating: PG
Word Count: 5,616
Summary: Science or the supernatural - Greg had to choose. But what if he couldn't? An AU where Greg's life takes a different, more rocky path to meeting the CSI team for the first time.
Content: Alternate path, what if? AU, case fic, psychic powers, hurt/comfort.
A/N: I recently mainlined all the CSI to get up to date. I'd watched regularly in early years, but had missed much of later seasons, so seeing the series as a whole and watching the characters grow and develop was really interesting. In particular, I loved the revisiting of Greg's heritage and connection to the supernatural, and the storyline of what is essentially a bit of a crisis of faith in Ghosts of the Past. I had a bingo square for 'fork in the road' on my shiny new round two trope-bingo card, so, to subvert it I thought, what if pre-series Greg reached that fork in the road between science and the supernatural, and rather than choosing one path, he kind of got stuck there, unable to definitively commit wholly to either at the exclusion of the other? This is what I ended up with.

Though there are light references to events, places and people through all extant seasons (to the end of Season 13), this story stands pretty well alone, and doesn't have heavy ties to major plot arcs, so should be enjoyable and understandable to a casual viewer.
