Title: csi: TARDIS
Rating: PG, just to be safe
Warnings: Fluff and crack
Summary: Greg tries to get Nick into Doctor Who.
Spoilers: Only for season two of Doctor Who

A/N: Pure, unadulterated cracky fluff. I really wish I weren’t responsible for this, but I am. ::hangs head in shame:: Knowledge of Doctor Who is useful, but not necessary. It’s just Greg trying to get his boyfriend into sci-fi. Note that Sara also appears because I am Quite Batshit for Sara.

Disclaimer: Everything belongs to its respectful owner.

Dedication: To purple_shoes for being loltastic and fun.

“Guess what I bought?” Greg asks Nick in a sing-song voice.

Nick hardly glances up from the forensics journal he’s reading; he’s circling the bits that he finds quite fascinating, which ends up being almost the entire thing. “Do I really want to know how much money you spent at the record store?”

Greg huffs a little. “It’s not just a music store, Nicky. They sell DVDs, too! And guess what I bought?”

“A collection of all Marilyn Manson’s music videos?” Nick half-heartedly guesses, underlining something about body decomposition.

“Nick, sometimes I get the impression that you really don’t care about guessing games,” Greg sort of pouts.

Nick holds back his chuckle. “What gives you that impression, Greg?”

Unceremoniously, Greg dumps the contents of the bag on the table and on top of Nick’s journal. The older man lets out a squawk of disproval and Greg looks rather smug. Nick picks up the DVD box set. “What’s Doctor Who?” he asks.

Greg seems to swell with joy- a grin lights up his face and his hands flail about a little as he explains. “It’s pretty much the best science fiction show ever!”

Moving the set away, Nick asks, “Why is it the best science fiction show?”

Greg gets a little defensive. “It’s British,” he snaps, as though that answers everything. “Let’s watch it, Nick! Come on, it’s good.”

“G, this says it’s season two,” Nick tells him.

“So? It’s not like you’ll really miss anything. Besides, this season’s better.” Greg juts out his lower lip a little. “Please, Nicky? It’s our day off.”

Nick sighs. “Okay, whatever. Let’s watch it.”

ii – Tooth and Claw
“Why do they call him ‘the Doctor’?” Nick asks.

“Because he doesn’t have a name.” Greg says it like it’s obvious.

“Why not?”

“Aren’t we more interested in the ‘what’ and not the ‘why’?”

Nick glares at him, a little annoyed. “I just want to know, G, so I can fully appreciate this masterful work of art.”

“Oh, don’t be an ass-kisser.” But Greg smiles and nestles closer to Nick. “You know, Rose wasn’t as annoying in the first season. She also had nicer hair.”

Nick shrugs. “I think she’s okay. And she’s cute. I’ll bet that’s what Lindsay’s gonna look like when she gets older.”

Greg shudders. “I hope she doesn’t style it like that-” He gestures to the television screen, where Rose’s hair was shoulder-length and curled. “I doubt Cath will let her do it like that.”

“You’re very metro sometimes,” Nick states.

“Shut up,” Greg mutters.

iii – The Girl in the Fireplace
Nick sits upright when he sees the beautiful blonde woman on the screen. “Who’s that?” he asks as the woman kneels down next to the fireplace.

“You’ll find out,” Greg laughs.

A few minutes later, when the TARDIS team lands on a spaceship, Nick says, “I thought Rose was mad at Mickey.”

“Continuity doesn’t matter.”

When Reinette (who Nick pointed out was the woman from the beginning) kisses the Doctor, Greg says, “I always wanted her to push him into the flames.”

Nick raises his eyebrows. “That’s nice.”

The Doctor says, “Wish me luck.”

Reinette says, “No.”

Greg shouts at the screen, “Jump through the flames and go get her, Doctor!”

Moments later, Nick glances away from the Doctor reading Reinette’s letter when he hears his companion sniffing. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah,” Greg mumbles.

“Are you- are you crying?” Nick asks, trying not to laugh.

Greg glares at him. “No! I’ve just got something in… both my eyes.”

iv – The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit
Nick blinks when he reads the titles. “Don’t tell me this is a religious thing.”

“It’s whatever you want it to be, Nicky,” Greg says innocently.

A few minutes in, Nick says, “You know, I think that the Doctor and Rose should be a little more concerned about the Ood being slaves. I mean, they’re righteously indignant for about two minutes, then go back to normal.”

Greg shrugs. “I think they’re more worried about the TARDIS, really.”

“It’d be so much easier if they had a cool car that they could drive around.”

“That defeats the purpose of the TARDIS,” Greg argues.

Nick ruffles his hair. “You’re a geek.”

When the second half rolls around, Nick snorts. “So, Satan lives in a black hole?”

“Yeah, basically. His fear spreads universally, you know.”

“This is insane. Oh, showdown between the Lonely God and Satan.”

Greg laughs. “I knew you’d like this, Nicky.”

Nick smiles. “It’s sweet that the Doctor believes in Rose.” He ignores Greg’s cough that sounds sort of like, Romana. “Be quiet, geek,” Nick teases and Greg punches his arm.

“Plebe.”

Nick snorts.

v – Doomsday
There is a wall and it separates Rose from the Doctor. As Rose presses her cheek against the white, Nick asks, “Why is there a wall there?”

Greg is too busy sniffling to answer.

“Are you crying again?”

“No,” Greg snaps.

Nick snorts.

Rose stands on a beach, waiting for the Doctor to come see her. Nick asks, “Do they get a happy ending?”

“Shut up.”

“You know, I would just spit out ‘I love you’ if I only had two minutes,” Nick comments.

Greg glares at him. “Good for you.”

Wiping hair out of her face, Rose chokes out, “I- I love you” right when Greg takes a shaky breath and lets out a dry sob.

Nick spends the last few emotional minutes of the episode howling with laughter.

vi – Back at the Lab
Greg smiles at Sara as she tells a story about Ecklie. Nick’s foot brushes against his and the younger CSI holds back a laugh. After a moment, Greg asks, “Sara, will you go to the DNA lab? I think I left my jacket in there.”

“Are you kidding?” Sara returns, incredulous. “I have, like, five minutes left on break.”

Treating her to his best puppy-dog eyes, Greg says, “Please?”

“Yeah, let me just pop into my TARDIS and travel back in time and fetch it for you,” Sara mutters, finishing off her sandwich. “The stuff I do for you guys.” With a huff, she storms out of the break room.

Nick turns to Greg. “Sara knows about Doctor Who?”

Greg nods. “Yep. We watch it together sometimes.”

“You watch that show with Sara?”

Greg looks puzzled for a moment. “Yeah. Are you jealous?” He grins. “She likes the old series better.”

“Huh?”

“The show started in 1963. It ran until 1989, when it was cancelled and went on hiatus until 2005. Sara prefers the old series.”

Nick blinks. “You’re nuts.”

Greg shrugs. “Probably.” Then he brightens. “Hey, we should watch it together with Sara! And you can see Leela and Romana-”

“G?”

“Yeah?”

“Shut up.”

Maybe Nick would respond better to the Captain Jack episodes in Doctor Who series 1 & 3 ...? Or the whole of Torchwood? I want to see Nick and Greg's reactions to Gwen and PC Andy talking about "CSI: Cardiff" in Torchwood S1E01. :D
