Summary: Meeting Greg changed Nick's life in ways he never could guess. Can his friendship with Warrick last!!
This is a Vamp fic set kinda like the show Moonlight!
Nick had forgotten what is like to be human. Forgotten what they feel. Forgotten the things they do. Forgotten the way they see things. Forgotten the way they do
things, why they do them. Forgotten why they love someone like they do. Forgotten the taste food. Forgotten how to have fun the way they do. It's easy
to forget it been over 400 years since he was turned.
Warrick on the other hand still remembered.
"Come on lets go out and do something" Warrick said "I'm bored."
Nick looked at. "Like what" rolled his eyes.
"I don't know, anything, go to movie, bowling, go to a concert. We do the same
thing all the time. Just sit here and drink. Live a little" he said and stood up.
"Why would I want to do something like bowling" He ran his tongue over his teeth. He was starting to get hungry. He paused his tongue into his
tooth and let the taste of his own blood fill his mouth. It had been a while since he last feed.
"That is nasty. And because it will be fun" Warrick said. "Something
we haven't done in the last 3 months"
"Fun I don't think wearing someone less shoes and tossing a ball at a pen sounds fun" Nick said.
Had he really been gone only 3 months. It seemed much longer.
"We can go to a movie" Warrick said.
"I spent over 3,000 dollars on a TV. 1,200 on a sound system. We can watch something where." Nick said
and pointed at the TV.
"A concert, we could go see one. Or a play or go to a party. Something to get you out of this house" Warrick said.
"I go out" Nick said.
"When was the last time you went out to do something fun in the last 3 months" he asked.
When Nick couldn't answer he know he was in trouble.
"Fine but not bowling" he said and stood. He again touched his tongue to his
tooth and swallowed the blood that filled his mouth. He picked up his jacket and
ran his hand throw his hair. "Lets get this over with."
"Cool" Warrick said as the two walked out the door.
"Your driving" Nick said. He stopped seeing Sara standing in front of Warrick' car.
"Nice to see you" she said.
"No, I'm not going." he said and backed up.
"Come on she knows all the places to go" Warrick said.
"Yeah what a fun night, we go out and I get to watch you to talk all night and I become the third wheel" he tasted his own blood once again.
"It won't be like that I promise" Sara said and walked towards him. "We are worried about you. You've been weird even for you the past few months." She said
stopping a few feet in front of him. Anyone else she would of tired to touch them in some way. But
not him. She was afraid to try, unsure what he would do.
"It isn't fair" he said as Warrick opened the door to the car.
"Fine but I'm not sitting in the back" Nick said and got in the passer seat. He slammed the door.
"You didn't tell him I was here" Sara said and looked over at Warrick.
"I got him out of the house didn't I" He flashed her a smile. Sara got in the back and Warrick let of a deep breath and got in.
"So what is the plan" Sara asked.
"Nick wants to go bowling" Warrick said.
"I swear to god I will jump out of this car" he wouldn't face them.
"Warrick! I know a nice club, not to many people there. It plays good music." she said with a smile
Nick crossed his arms.
"Sounds good" Warrick said "tell me where to go."
Nick tuned them out as Sara told him where the place was. He stared out the window.
It really had been 3 months since he left to go help out his son. He'd been hurt some how and was in
a wheelchair. He needed his father. It wasn't suppose to take this long.
"So did you ask him" Sara asked.
"No and I'm not going to" Warrick said.
"Why not, he would know" she leaned forward and put her hand on the back of his seat.
"Because it's not true" Warrick said. "It can't be true."
"Dare I even ask what you want to ask me" Nick said.
"Sara let it go" Warrick said.
"I heard there was a Vamp that was part human. I hear he can eat, drink, go in the sun all that stuff. Rumors are he even has a kid" she said and looked at Nick.
"It's impossible" Warrick said. "There is no such thing out there."
Sara looked at Nick.
"And where did you hear about this" he let his own blood fill his mouth. He really needed to feed.
Being so close to a human didn't help either. He'd read about it on websites and blogs.
"I've been researching you guys" she paused "Vampires. And I keep reading about him on quite a few sites."
"So it must be true right" He said.
"Well you read something once you don't think anything of it. But when you see it more then once it makes you wonder" she said.
"Hmm" he again looked out the window.
"You know something don't you" she said.
"I'd take Warrick's advice and let it go" Nick said.
Warrick looked over at him. "You mean to tell me there is a vamp out there that is part human. One that can eat food." Warrick said.
"That advice you gave your human pet, you should follow it" Nick said as Warrick stopped the car.
"Is this it" Nick asked and looked at the building.
"Yeah" Sara said opening the door.
Warrick looked at Nick. "How is that possible" Warrick said.
"Don't do this Warrick, you'll make yourself sick and ruin all our fun" Nick said and got out of the car.
The three walked inside. Nick walked to a table in the back and sat down.
"No no come on up front" Sara said.
"You are lucky I'm even here".
Sara crossed her arms unsure how far she should push him.
"That might work on him but not me" he leaned back in his sit.
"I'll get a drink do you want.." she stopped as Warrick walked up to them.
"The back" he said. "This doesn't count as going out" he said.
Nick licked his teeth then pushed his tongue into his tooth. Blood filled his mouth he closed his eyes as it ran down his throat. He could smell all the fresh
blood. He licked his lips and covered his mouth with his hand. If Warrick know he'd
gone a while with out feeding they would have never come to a place like this.
"I swear Nick you are sick" Warrick said and sat down. Sara looked over at him.
"Do you two want, I mean can you" Sara stopped. She had no ideal if they could even drink something besides blood.
"We're good right now" Warrick said. He watched as Sara walked up to the front of
the bar.
"So this is fun?" Nick said and looked down at his hands.
"What is with you" Warrick said.
Nick looked over at him.
"I'm worried about you. There is nothing worse then a depressed vamp" Warrick said.
"I am fine, you and your human pet can stop worry about me" Nick said. He had no ideal how much he missed him. How much he needed him. And no ideal how bad he was at hiding it.
"Yeah I've heard that before. Then I come over and fine you with a stack in your heart and the floor covered in blood" Warrick said.
"Stop I'm fine" Nick said. "That won't happen." he stopped as Sara sat down next to Warrick.
They sat for a while, Warrick and Sara chatted away about nothing important. Nick
barely said a word unless forced to. Each time Nick tasted his own blood Warrick would give him a look.
"Why do you do that" Warrick asked "It is so gross"
"Why does it bother you so much" Nick said and looked up. Warrick said nothing but gave him another look. "I've had enough fun. I'm done." he said and stood up hurried outside. The fresh scent of blood was getting to him and was starting to feel out of control.
Sara hit his arm. "Nice work" she said.
Nick walked over to the car and tried to open the door. "Of course" he said finding it to be locked. He leaned on the car and waited.
"Nick" He heard. He turned and smiled.
"Greg" he said. "Your back in town" he added walked to meet his friend.
"Yeah, just got in a few hours ago. I had to find you." He said as the two hugged. Warrick walked out
seeing the two together.
"How is your son" Nick asked.
"Better. I brought him back with me. He needs me now but I couldn't stay away any longer. I missed
you to much. What are you doing" Greg asked and pulling away from the hug. He took his hand in his.
"My friends dragged me out" he said. "They think I'm depressed. But I'm fine
now."
Greg looked around seeing no one else.
"I just couldn't take them anymore and came out here" He said. "They are still inside." pulled in for a kiss.
"Nick" Warrick said walking over to them. They pulled a part and dropped hands. He looked
over the young man standing in front of Nick.
"Warrick, Greg" Nick said looking away.
"Well I should go." Greg said.
"Nice seeing you again" Nick said. "I'll come by later" he asked.
Greg smiled. "Yeah I'll call you" He said and crossed the street. Nick watched him walk away then turned to Warrick.
"Should we go back inside" He asked.
"You've never told me about your new friend" Warrick said.
"You never asked" Nick said. "So we staying, leaving what" he asked.
"Is he one of us" Warrick asked is voice almost cold sounding.
"Yeah" Nick said. "I think I'm going to take a cab and head home"
"Funny, I couldn't smell him" Warrick said.
"Maybe your losing your touch" Nick said and turned toward the street.
"It is true isn't it and he's the one. The one everyone is talking about" Warrick asked.
"You should really let it go Warrick" Nick snapped.
"No until you tell me about him. How it happened, how is it possible"
A cab pulled up and Nick opened the door.
"Nick you owe me" Warrick said.
"I don't owe you anything" Nick said. "Fuck" he yelled and slammed the door shut.
"First your pet must leave now and if you tell her anything I tell I swear to god I will hunt you down and kill you my self" he glared at him.
Warrick took a step back. He'd never seem his friend look like that. Well not to him anyway. For the first time since he'd know him he felt afraid.
"Ok" Warrick said and backed up. "I'll send her on her way"
"Fine" Nick said and followed Warrick inside. He sat at another table and watched Warrick talk to Sara.
Warrick sat down and placed his hands on the table.
"Ok how do you know him" Warrick asked.
"It easy" he said. "I made him" Nick leaned back in his seat and crossed his legs. "I have a headache," and looked down at his hands. "Maybe..."
"You're a vamp, you don't get headaches," Warrick said. "Now talk."
"Well, I would have one if I was a human,".
"Nick. I really don't have time for this."
"Then leave." he added and again, tasting his blood.
"God, will you stop that and tell me what you did?" Warrick said.
Nick looked up at him. "I'm hungry,". He had to leave, the scent of blood made it hard to focus. He'd feared he'd lose control
soon.
"Fine come back to my place. We'll eat and you can talk," he was tired of his friend's games.
"Soy blood. No I need something better then that," he said, and slow stood up.
"Fine, we'll go to your place." He stood up as well.
Nick stopped and placed his hand on the table. The room seemed to move as he stood still. He placed his hand on the side of his face.
"When is the last time you feed?" Warrick asked. "You look really pale."
"I... uh, don't remember,". Warrick took him by the arm to help him keep his balance.
"Let's get you home. But you are not getting out of this." Warrick said as he lead him to the car. He drove to Nick's house and pulled up. He was surprised as they walked inside to find no one there.
"Where are all your little girl friends?" he asked, helping him sit down on the couch. He checked the house for blood but found nothing. "Are you out?".
"I'm not sure."Nick said, and put his hands on his head.
"Shit." Warrick pulled out his cell phone. "Sara, I need a favor. Go to my place and..." He paused "...behind the wine glasses you'll find my supply of blood. Could you
bring it over to Nick's?" he asked, looked over at him.
"Yes," she said. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine - It's for him. He hasn't feed in a while."
"Knock when you get here, don't try to come in." He said as he watched his older friend. Nick pulled his cell phone out, his hand shock as he placed it on the table.
"Did he tell you yet?" she asked.
"No. He needs to feed first. Get the stuff marked AB - he
likes it the best." He hung up the phone and sit it on the counter. "This isn't like you at all," Warrick said, and sat next to him.
"I just lost track of time." his eyes locked on his shacking hands.
"So talk." He knew now may be the best time to get him to
talk.
"I meet him a year or so ago." He leaned back and again covered his face. "He's a doctor.
Long story short: Greg told me was going to die. He had cancer now and there was no cure. He was so upset. He's got a very sick kid - cancer, breathing problems, and now he's in a wheelchair - can't walk. He was so worried about his son and what would happen
to him. I felt bad. I've met his kid. Nice boy. It was..." he
paused. "...it's not right. The boy fought cancer his whole life and finally beat it when he was 17, and then he got attacked and broke his back. Doing some charity race."
"So you told this Greg guy what you were."
"He know before that. Anyway, I offered and he
accepted. "Nick stopped at the knock on the door.
"I'll be right back." Warrick said. He walked to the door.
"I got all I could find. I have no ideal how much he needs." Sara said and held up a backpack.
"That's great,"he took the backpack from her. "I'll call you later."
"Can I come in?" she asked and gave him a hopeful look.
"No, now is not a good time."
"Warrick, please." she said.
"Sara!" he said as she walked in.
Nick took in a deep breath and looked up. He eyes opened as the fresh sent of live blood filled him. He licked his teeth.
"Sara you should go." Warrick said, as Nick stood, but the his light headedness kept him from rushing forward.
"What is she doing here?" he asked, his eyes glowing, his fangs showing.
"Sara!" Warrick yelled, and stepped in front of her. "Leave. She brought blood, and she's leaving now."
Sara swallowed hard and backed up. Warrick pushed her out the door and pulled it shut.
"He could have killed you in a second. I told you not to come in!" he snapped. "You're lucky he's weak."
"I didn't think he..." She stopped.
"He's not right. You know what happens when a vamp is really hungery. I'll call you later. Now go, please." He took her hand.
"Fine. But you'll fill me in, right?"
"Yeah, sure. I've got to get this to him." He kissed her
and walked back inside. He removed the blood from the backpack and poured it into a wine glass. He poured some for himself and walked over to to friend. He handed him the glass and watched him empty the glass.
"Is there more?" he asked. Warrick nodded and handed him the glass he'd made for himself.
"So do I need to start checking on you every day?" he asked, still worried. He looked pale. The blood should of helped by now. Had he been that way all night and he just hadn't noticed?
"No, I'm fine now." Nick said.
"Are you sure? You're still so..."
"Yes."Nick said, and cut him off. "You don't need to worry about me" he again
tasted his own blood.
"Then finish your story." He got up to get more blood.
"We felt it was the only way for him to help his son."Nick stopped and closed his eyes.
"So, will I still love my son?" Greg asked, sitting next toNick.
"Oh yes, you won't lose that ever." he said, and took his hand.
"No more eating, drinking..."
"You can still drink water and stuff, but no food."
Greg closed his eyes as Nick pulled him close.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"Nick asked.
"I'm so scared but me needs me. I can't leave him now. He's been through so much. He still needs me." He wiped the tears from his face.
"It's a lot to give up for your son."Nick said.
"You wouldn't understand." Greg said and tried to pull away. Nick held him tight.
"I do understand. I still know what love is." he could not hide how much that statement hurt him.
"I"m sorry. I didn't mean that." Greg said. "That was stupid of me. After all you've done forme, him."
"I just want to make sure you really want this. I'm all for having you around forever." He lifted his face with his hand.
"Nick?" Warrick said. "Are you sure you've had enough? I have more."
Nick opened his eyes and looked up. "I started to take his life and something happened. I couldn't finish."
"What?" Warrick asked, sitting down.
Nick looked down at the floor. "Someone was yelling for him. There was a code; they needed him and
they were about to open the door. So I bit my wrist and let him feed from me before I drained him all the way."
"You did what?" Warrick said, and stood up. "You of all people know better!"
"I didn't have a choice. They would have come in and found us. I had to." he also stood up.
"Then you should have left him like that." Warrick said in a cold voice.
"I couldn't do that." Nick said. "He would have died."
Warrick stood up and walked over to the window.
"Since when do you care if a human dies or not?" He said.
"Well you got what you wanted to know, so you can leave now."
"So he eats, drinks... he's still part human." Warrick asked but won't face him.
Nick nodded. He smiled as his phone rang.
"Hey." He said.
"I got Luke all settled in, do you want to come by?" Greg asked.
"I'd love to" Nick said.
"Good. I've missed you." Greg said.
"Me too." He hung up the phone "I'm leaving. You can stay if
you want."
Warrick turned and faced him. "You love him, don't you?" he said.
"See yourself out." He picked up his jacket and put it on.
"That's why you did it. You didn't want to lose him so you -" Warrick said.
"I did it for his son." Nick said
"Lair."
"Maybe, but why do you care?" He paused and looked around his empty house. "You know, I got rid of the girls seven months ago." He turned walked out the door.
Warrick looked around. "Seven..?" Had it been that long since he'd been over to his friends house?
