Very Sad News

For those of you who have been CSI fans from the beginning, this is really sad news. CarolineCrane, one of the truly great Nick/Greg authors is taking down her web site. I’ve copied her message as she posted it in her live journal. I am saddened by this more than I can tell you but if you are a fan of hers as I am, copy some or all of her fantastic stories before they are gone forever. Here is a link to the site.

Hello! As you probably know, I have been thinking for some time about letting my webspace expire. After a lot of thought I've finally decided to take the plunge. The next billing date is February 23, after which time the site will come down whenever slashcity gets around to it, I suppose.

So if you want to save anything for your own personal use, you've got about a week. I don't care what you do with anything that's there; print it, save it to your hard drive, upload it to your own webspace (though if you'd leave my name on it that would be ace), whatever. I made the decision not in order to inconvenience anyone, but because I haven't used that space in ages and 120 dollars a year is a lot to spend on something I'm not using.

I just clicked on the link I posted in my original message and went right to her site. You have to click on the top package and it takes you to her update site. If you click on 'Fic' on that page it will take you to her list of fandoms. Click on CSI and everything is there including Citrus, Cold Comfort, Dating Game, Familiar Roads, Rose Gardens, Shelter, and Beneath Watchful Eyes.

It's the end of an era, I'm a bit sad as well, but totally understand Caroline's point of view.

If anyone is still trying to find fic, maybe remembers snippets and forgot to archive before: I have all her stories backed up. Just hollor and I'll post requests, so everyone can enjoy:)

I do have the story in it's entirety. I could post it on this site as sort of a tribute to this great writer and then we could all enjoy it or I can just send it to you. Whatever you decide.

I am working on a new story called 'Fresh Eyes' but it's slow going; requires a lot of research into Santerita and Voodoo and it's not easy.

I've been in sort of a slump. I tried writing a CSI:Miami story with Eric/Ryan and got panned so badly it took the wind out of my sails. I don't mind constructive criticism, Lord knows I've gotten it here but this was different. One person wouldn't even sign their name; they posted under Anonymous and really ripped me to pieces. They didn't like my sentences (have no idea what that means) or my choice of words (also no idea about that). One person who did at least sign their name said they didn't like the sex; (WTF...give me a clue...too much, not enough, too graphic, not explicit enough WHAT WHAT WHAT)so I've sort of been laying low, licking my wounds.

You know, I just might rework the story to be a Nick/Greg and post it here. Maybe then I could at least get some helpful feedback and figure out what I did wrong.

Oh dear, I hope I wasn't the one who did that. :( I vaguely remembered seeing your name on the wolfe_delko comm, but I don't remember if I commented on it. If I did, I apologize; if not, maybe you want to give me a link so that I see if I can give a different pov?

Now back to this issue: The best way is to use the memories to slowly archive the fics. They are not infinite, but a good memory library can be really convenient.

Hey everyone, I just was emailed about this and told. She also unfortunately took all of her fic off of WMTBD (www.nickandgreg.com) not long after Matt 0creativity and I took it over. I do however have most of her fic on my hard drive. She wasn't happy with what we did to the site, so she didn't want it there, and so I really don't want to post anything here to upset anyone.

Yes, the site is still screwed up, between Matt and school and my working five days a week now, it's been tough to get it rebuilt, but Matt is working on a "back door" to make sure nothing like this happens again, and don't worry, "WMTDB" will always be there...... Especially with all the slashy goodness we've been getting lately, before the damn writer's strike....

Hey you, long time no see!
Too bad you two lack time to rebuild the desert, but I'm glad the fic is all still there. Even though Caroline said her fic was up for grabs, I understand she might not want to participate in the site anymore. Absolutely no offence to both you and Matt intended, I personally think you did a great job and am still thankful you offered to host the site, but we have to respect her decision to withdraw.

So with her permission I have made a special corner in my blog where I can post her fics by request. Just so people have a place to go: My library (http://blj-bieb.blogspot.com/).
If anyone comes by with a snippet I don't recognize, I hope you are available to help me remember what story it is. After all, you were the one with the freaky memory of all fics ever published in Nick/Greg fandom;)

Hey, always glad to help when I can. It's kind of ironic, because what Matt is working on for his senior honor's project will be what will help us with the site..... so hopefully it won't be too much longer....

And I do have all her stories, I checked, except any newer ones, so if you need any titles or anything, just let me know, I'll be happy to help... Take care, and hopefully we'll have new slashy scenes to squeal over soon....

Hey I just started reading nick/greg about a week ago, and I am so glad that I did! I read all of Caroline Crane's stories that were on the website that was just posted, but I was wondering if someone could post her newer stories and The Fetish Series (which was not showing up on the WayBack Machine archive. Thanks for that! Also if anyone wants to recommend some other stories or authors that would be great!
