Summary: On his way to work, Greg gets into an accident.
It was raining-hard. So hard Greg could barely see the road in front of him as he sped down it, wipers going full speed. The wipers didn't help much, but he could at least see enough to stay on the road. The radio was on, playing some odd song he'd never heard of. He wasn't paying much attention to it though, as his thoughts were on Nick and the night before. Greg was feeling down after a triple shift and Nick offered to drive him home so he wouldn't fall asleep at the wheel. Of course Greg took the offer and practically fell asleep as soon as his body hit the passenger seat. Nick had only laughed, god how Greg loved to hear him laugh.
By the time they had arrived at Greg's place, Greg was mumbling incoherencies, making Nick laugh even more. Nick had carried him inside, depsite Greg's protests about being able to walk himself, to which Nick had put him down and Greg had fallen flat on his ass. Nick only laughed again and Greg went back to that dreamy state of mind when ever Nick was around. Once inside, though, things got complicated. Greg's babbling and mumbling became things he didn't want to say, things about Nick and Greg's little "crush" on him. After that, Nick had left, Greg sitting in the middle of his bedroom floor on the verge of tears. He didn't want anything to go that way.
Greg was snapped back into reality as a bolt of lightning hit a tree off the side of the road. He jumped, his hands tightening around the wheel. He took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. The small fire in the tree was put out as fast as it was there. He watched it fade into embers, then sped up a little. He had to get to work or else Grissom would have his ass for the millionth time that week. Greg closed his eyes for a second, then reached for his styrofoam cup of coffee and took a huge swallow of it to warm himself up. The weather wasn't exactly warm tonight and he wasn't enjoying it too well.
The rain only seemed to fall harder as thunder clapped and more lightning hit tree tops and the ground. Calm down, you're fine. He sighed heavily and reluctantly he let his mind wander back to Nick. He didn't want to be in love with Nick, especially when the other didn't love you back. In fact, he hated being love with Nick because he knew it was unrequited. Well, until the night before. It was painful being in love with your coworker, let alone one of your good friends; he wasn't so sure though if Nick wanted to speak to him ever again. He wouldn't blame Nick for cutting him off from his life. Greg absolutely, poke-your-eyes-out-with-a-fork, jump off a cliff hated being in love. Yep.
The next thing Greg knew, something big hit the Denali. He cursed and hit the brake, but the car began to hydroplane. He held onto the wheel so hard his knuckles were straining against skin. Finally, the car stopped, and he sighed. He carefully and slowly looked in the rearview mirror. A coyote lay in the middle of the road, trying to get up but unable to. Greg felt bad, but he had to get the Denali back on the road. He shifted around to dig his cell phone out, but when he moved the car moved. It teetered forward dangerously. Greg was afraid to look. He had to, though, and when he saw nothing but trees and ground very far away he knew he was doomed. Calm down. Just don't move. You'll be fine. He tried reassuring himself, although it didn't work much when the car moved again. He noticed his breathing hitched everytime he breathed in and realized he really did need to calm down or he'd never get out of this alive. He'd cause himself harm and he didn't want to do that. Just barely moving, he carefully stretched his arm into the backseat to grab his cell phone.
Suddenly, headlights came speeding around the corner. A mac truck skidded on the road, hit the poor coyote, and Greg clenched his eyes shut as he waited for the inevitable. The impact was heavy and sent the Denali lurching forward. Mud and rain and wet grass sent it sliding down the hill. It flipped three times before landing, wheels in the air, in the ditch below. The mac truck landed a few feet away, it's cargo resting on the side of the road. Greg groaned and forced his eyes open. Then they closed right back as he blacked out.

"Has anybody heard from Greg?" Warrick asked back at he lab.
Grissom peered over the tops of his glasses at the level three CSI and raised an eyebrow. "No. Wasn't he suppose to be in half an hour ago?"
"Yeah. I'll go ask the others if they've heard from him. He's probably just late." Warrick sighed and left Grissom's office to find the other CSI's. He came upon Catherine and Sara first and asked them the same question. They both hadn't heard from Greg. A little worried now, he looked for Nick and finally found him in the A/V lab. He knocked on the glass door and a tired looking Nick looked up from the screen. He attempted a smile, but Warrick noticed it faded just as quickly.
"Hey, 'Rick. What's up?"
"Hey, have you heard from Greg? He was suppose to be here half an hour ago and no one has heard from him so far."
Nick perked up a little at the mention of Greg, although worry was now settling in the pit of his stomach. "Uh, no. I haven't heard from him since last night." He cleared his throat and turned back to what he was doing. Warrick frowned.
"Are you okay?" he asked, a little worried about his friend and how he was acting.
Nick dropped his pencil and paper and his shoulders visibly sagged. He shrugged and Warrick pulled a seat up next to him. "Okay, what would you do if one of your best friends told you that they love you and that they have for a long time?"
A look of surprised crossed Warrick's face. He sat speechless for a moment, until he thought of something to say. "Um, well. I don't know. It depends on if you love them back. Why?"
"Don't worry about it. It's something stupid anyway."
"No, man. You can talk to me, you know that. Now what's going on?"
"Well, um, last night, you know I took Greg home. And he just started rambling like he always does and after I got him inside his apartment he started saying things like 'I love you' and blah blah blah. I thought he was thinking that I was someone else, until he actually said 'Nick I love you and I have for a long time' and then I just left. I left. I think I made him cry, too, by just leaving like that. I don't k-"
Warrick chuckled as he placed a hand on Nick's shoulder. "Nicky, you're the one rambling now. So, Sanders....loves you?"
"I guess. I don't know. Maybe it was the exhaustion talking. Who knows with him." Nick shrugged. He flashed Warrick a tired smile and Warrick laughed. "I'm crazy. I'm tired."
"Yeah, me too. Don't worry though. You'll figure things out. Now, I've gotta try and get in touch with the idiot."
"I'll try too." Warrick waved over his shoulder as he walked out. Nick sighed wearily and stared at the fuzzy screen. He'd been thinking about the night before since he had gotten home last night.
Nick didn't want to think about it, but he couldn't help it. Sure Greg was attractive and funny and witty and just outright crazy, but that didn't mean Nick loved Greg too did it? He shuddered and covered his face with his hands. He groaned, letting his head drop to the table. He banged it hard, until it gave him a headache.
"Nick!" Catherine shouted, running down the hall. Nicks shot up from the chair and met Catherine in the hallway, wondering what was so important that she was yelling and running around. "Greg's been in an accident. A truck driver called in and managed to tell the police about the accident, but couldn't give them a location."
Nick froze. Greg was in an accident? He was only almost an hour late, how could it happen so fast? "We gotta go find him." He pushed past Catherine and hurried to Grissom's office. But Catherine grabbed his strong forearm and stopped him.
"Nicky, it's storming outside. We have to wait for the police and firetrucks to get here. They can take us out on the roads. We'll find him."
