I need your help...

So for a friend's birthday, I said I'd draw her a picture of dear Nick and Greg.  So I'm nearly done, but Nick just doesn't look right to me.  I think it's his mouth, but I don't know what to do.  It's pretty sad.  So if you could take a look and let me know...I could really use a moment of inspiration!  Thanks!

Here's the picture I drew....

Don't worry, I rounded out Greg's chin so it's not so square, and Nick is supposed to be biting his lower lip.  I just can't seem to get it right.

Well, as far as I can see now, it looks more like Nick is just smiling, in stead of biting on his lower lip. I think you need to let the teeth 'stick over' a little. So instead of a 'straight' line as a lower lip, you just need to draw the shape of the teeth. I hope I explained that somewhat okay.

Other than that... try playing with the shadows a bit more. I know, shadows are terrifying, but they can really help a picture. Good luck! :3

That makes sense...though in the state I am in right now it will just look like he has buck teeth. I will definitely try that though. And I'll definitely mess with the shadows...I just didn't want to make the picture all smudgy before I had gotten the mouth right.
Thanks very much for your help...I really admire all YOUR art by the way, and your icon is actually my favorite piece, as well as the one where Nick is holding Greg in bed = love.

I agree with artistic_sillie on the teeth. But, who am I to talk *laughs* I never draw then....XD

Ya know what could help against smudging? Those cotton white gloves, Im thinking of getting them myself :D

As for now, Im covering the drawn parts with a plain paper :D

Yeah, teeth are really hard. :(
There are white cotton gloves to prevent smudging? That's pretty wicked cool. I might have to get me some...
But I do cover the drawn parts with paper...that's been a habit since middle school when they graded us on the lack of smudges.

Oh definitely will not forget beauty mark...I tried to get most of Greg's freckles in there, although you can't see because my camera does not pick up on tiny details like that...such is the quality of a hundred dollar digital camera.
