Summary Greg dies in a Car Crash. Or does he??

Warrick arrived at the crime scene in an awful mood. He’d been to four scenes since going on shift thankfully he’d only stuck with one case but he was still dog tired and couldn’t wait for shift to end

Now he had this case. A crash with one fatality. it might have been foul play but Warrick thought it might just have been a drunk driver or something like that. he hoped it was, then he could get home.

“Warrick I have to tell you something before you process. You might also want to call Griss.” Brass told him as he walked up from the crash site to the tape. he had  a sort of grave look on his face. Warrick knew something bad had happned.

“What is it man?" He asked.

“The Vic if Greg Sanders.”

Six hours earlier.

Greg hated when this happened. They’d had another argument about Nick telling his family about them.

Nick had met Greg’s family and they all knew and didn’t mind but Nick just couldn’t bring himself to tell his family and they’d argued many times over it but this time had been the worst.

Nick had ended their relationship.

Greg knew he didn’t mean it and after a few days they’d be back together again but still, it had been bad.

Greg went for a drive. He was half a mile from the strip when someone from behind him began tailgating him. Greg waved for them to go head of him but they didn’t and the car crashed into Greg’s bumper. After the third hit Greg’s car tumbled into a ditch.

Back in the present

Warrick stared at Greg’s lifeless body in the drivers seat. The back of the car had extensive damage that hadn’t happened during the crash. It was the cause of the crash.

He pulled out his cell and called Grissom

“Grissom.”

“it’s Warrick.”

“”yeah what’s up.”

“You know the crash I’ve been sent to.”

“Yeah what about it.”

“It’s Greg’s car Griss. Greg’s dead.”

Xxxxxxxxxxxx

Grissom heard warricks word and glanced out his office and saw Nick working on a case with Catherine. He’d have to tell them.

“Start processing. I’ll be there soon. I’ll have to tell everyone.”

After Warrick hung up Grissom watched Nick for a long time trying to figure out how to tell him this.

“Nick, Catherine there’s something I have to tell you.”

“Yeah can it wait.” Catherine asked. She looked to be right on the verge of a break through in her case

“No.”

“ok.”

“there was a crash about 20 miles from the strip. It looks like a car was run off the road. A Denali to be exact. Greg’s Denali.”

“What? Is Greg ok.” Catherine asked. Nick hadn’t spoke but he’d paled considerably and looked frightened and was looking at Grissom to take away his fears and tell them that Greg was shook up but ok.

“No. He died on scene.”

Grissom’s works reverberated around Nick’s mind and he was walked out the lab to get to autopsy

Greg couldn’t be dead he couldn’t be.

Walking into autopsy he froze. Doc robins wasn’t there but the body was a there covered. It might not be Greg. He might wake up and find Greg safe in bed beside him. Not dead in autopsy after a stupid argument.

Pulling back the covers. He could have sworn he felt his heart break. He was dead. His face bereft of any life it once had and it was marked. He barely looked like Greg anymore and He was cold.

Tears were running down his face before he was even aware of it and someone was pulling him back, away from Greg’s corpse.

It was Sara. She was crying too but seamed to be in control of herself, Unlike Nick.

She stared at Greg’s body as she pulled Nick away. He couldn’t stay here. He needed to get away. Not look at Greg’s face which was marked from the impact. Nick needed to find the person that did this.

“Come on Nick. Let’s get you out of here.”

“I don’t want to leave him Sara. I can’t.” Nick told her choking on his tears.

“He’s not here anymore Nick. He’s gone. That’s not Greg. That’s a body, a corpse. We see them all the time. Almost everyday. You have to look at him that way. We have to catch the person who did this Nick.” She told him her own tears spilling down her cheeks. She was feeling this but would not allow her own grief to stop her from catching the person who had killed her best friend.

Nick looked at Sara and allowed her to lead him out of autopsy and to Grissom’s office where the rest of the team had gathered.

Catherine’s face was marked by tears. She looked as if she’d lost a child. When she saw Nick she got up and Wrapped her arms around him, murmuring how sorry she was.

They all spent a long time in silence. Until Sofia came in.

“I have some news for you.” She seamed happy. Which did not go down well.

“What is it?” Sara asked

“Doc Robins just did the autopsy cause of death as blunt force trauma. It was cased by the impact. He also had extensive internal bleeding. If the Head trauma hadn’t killed him the bleeding would hive. But that’s not why I came straight here, you know Greg’s face was severely marked. He was barely recognisable?”

“Yes we all know that.” Nick told her fresh tears appearing in his eyes. He didn’t need to think about how awful his Greg had looked.

“That must have been the person who took Greg’s plan.” she told them. There was something in her voice a certain level of happiness she should not have.

“Wait a minute, ‘who took Greg’?” Grissom asked wanting to clarify Sofia’s last statement.

“The man in the car was not Greg Sanders.”
