Title: Destiny
Chapter: 5/7
Rating: PG
Summary: The last few hours together and Nick finally asks Greg for the number. But Greg has sligthly different ideas
A/N: It is a sligthly short chapter. Sorry about that, but I have my reasons *evil laugh*

At the close of the convention, Nick found Greg standing next to his chair, smiling down at him, asking “You up for coffee?”

Nick just nodded and followed Greg out of the room and out of the building.

Greg walked to a near by café. Nick remembered this café didn’t have very good coffee, but was quiet; good for conversation.

They sat in the furthest booth, ordered coffee and a snack. In just moments, they found them selves alone again.

When the food came they ate and spent the rest of the time in a comfortable silence, neither knowing what to say. They both recognized that soon they would separate.

They were done with eating when Greg finally said something.

“S0. In 3 hours your plane leaves and we will probably never see each other again.” Greg began.

“Looks like it.”

“You know, during the last 4 hours of this convention I had plenty of time to think about certain things. Do you belief in destiny, Nick?”

“What?”

“Do you believe in destiny? You know, that certain things happen for a reason.”

Nick thought about it for a moment.

“Honestly? I’d have to say no, I don’t believe in that kind of thing.” He watched Greg, thinking for a moment he saw something indicating he was hoping for different answer.

“But then again, I also can’t say it isn’t possible. Maybe, why are you asking?”

“I’m just curious.”

“Yeah, sure. What is it Greg?”

“Well… I just think all this… is kind of a huge co-incidence, don’t you think?”

“What do you mean? What co-incidence?” Nick asked confused.

“Well, first we both are on the flight from Dallas, even though I wasn’t supposed to be close to there. My being on that same flight caused the mix up with our suitcases, leading to our meeting each other. It’s a coincidence that we end up in the same hotel, that we get the last two rooms, that I lose my key. It’s even odd that no one told me the key was found until we check out. Too many coincidences, don’t you agree?

“I get your point. Although it sounds like you trying to say the universe played matchmaker,” Nick grinned and got a grin from Greg as reply.

“So where does that leave us?” Nick asked finally.

“Maybe we are meant to see each other again.” Greg smiled

Greg grabbed his wallet, pulled out a few bills and threw them on the table. Then he grabbed a pen.

He got up, leaving the diner and Nick followed him.

“Why don’t you just give me your number, might be faster than waiting for us to accidentally meet again,” Nick laughed.

“Actually,” Greg started. “I gave you my number.”

Nick looked confused. He had no idea what Greg meant.

“I wrote it down on the 5 dollar bill,” Greg explained and saw realization hitting Nick.

“But the waitress took the money as soon as we left.”

“Yup.”

“You lost me. Am I supposed to understand this?”

“Someday, you’ll find that bill with my number on it. When that happens,” Greg explained, “you’ll know it was destiny after all, and we’re meant to be together.” Greg climbed into his waiting taxi.

“ That’s crazy! Do you have any idea how many hands that bill would have to go through to even make it to Dallas?”

“Have a little faith, Nicky.”

Nick loaded the suitcases into the trunk, and then joined Greg in the cab. He wasn’t sure if he should be angry or just frustrated.
“Can’t you just give me your number again?” Nick asked. “Seriously, the odds of my ever seeing that bill are slim to none.”

“Just have a little faith, it will work out great.”

“If you’re so sure of that, why don’t you just give me your number and we save a lot of time,” Nick grinned.

Greg shook his head.

“Nope, just be a little patient,” Greg answered.

The pout on Nick’s face was cute, Greg had to confess and it nearly worked on him. Nearly. The taxi pulling up outside the airport saved him.

Nick made his way to check-in before returning back to Greg.

“I guess that’s it then, huh?” Nick asked. He was startled when moments later he was dragged by Greg through half the airport to the restrooms.

The restroom was deserted and seconds later he could feel Greg’s lips pressed against his. He responded by kissing Greg back fiercely.

After a few moments they broke apart, smiling at each other.

“Another reason why you should give me your number again.” Nick tried with a sheepish grin, but Greg shook his head once more.

“No. Try to see it from the bright side. The longer it takes the sweeter the … um...‘reunion’ will be.”

“You know we could pre-celebrate our reunion, right here.” Nick grinned, and saw Greg raising an eyebrow.

“Are you suggesting what I think you are?” Greg asked, before laughing at him.

“No, not really. It would be a bad idea, but it would have been fun.”

Nick settled on buying Greg another coffee, hoping to get the number after all, but it didn’t work. Feeling a little sad, he boarded his three o’clock fight. As much as he wanted to believe he would see Greg again, he knew that chances were he would never get a hold of that five-dollar bill.
