Nick stared at the..the thing sitting next to him on the couch. It was there when he got home from work. What was odd was that it was there, but Greg wasn't. And Greg was off work for two days.
The thing hadn't moved at all since Nick had gotten home. It just sat there, staring at the television with its big yellow eyes. It just wouldn't budge. Nick even tried poking it. All he got was some sort of cross between a growl and a whine. He backed off and just let it sit there after that.
When Greg finally appeared through the front door fifteen minutes later, Nick abruptly stood up and stormed over to him. "What is that sitting on the couch?" he asked in a low whisper. He peeked over his shoulder to make sure the thing was still there and hadn't dissappeared somewhere to pee or something. Greg grabbed his face and made him look at Greg. Greg smiled.
"It's a chinchilla silly. A very mellow chinchilla."
"A chinchilla?!" Nick barked and jumped away from Greg. "When did you get a chinchilla? And how long exactly has it been?"
"I got him yesterday morning after you left for work."
"G..." Nick groaned and slapped a hand to his forehead.
"I couldn't help it! I went to the pet store for some more fish food and the chinchilla was just sitting there looking all sad and lonely! I picked him up and and he stared at me with his big yellow eyes and BAM! I was in love. I just had to buy him." Greg explained, now holding on to Nick's arm like a five year old and sticking his bottom lip out in a pout. Nick sighed and looked over at the gray thing sitting on their couch.
"Greg, you're like a five year old."
"Can we keep him?!" Greg asked, on the verge of begging. "Please?" He poked his lip out further and made his eyes all big and watery.
"Fine." Nick sighed and threw his hands up in defense. "Fine, fine, fine."
"YES!" Greg let go of Nick's arm and ran over to the couch. The chinchilla actually moved and for a second looked like it was actually scared as Greg bounded over to the couch. Greg snatched him up and hugged him, planting a kiss to the side of his face. Nick rolled his eyes, but had to admit it was cute. The chinchilla's face scrunched up from the force of Greg's smooch and it started to squirm. "Oh Harry! You get to stay!"
"Harry?" Nick wondered.
"Yeah. His name is Harry. It's better than Bob. I was seriously thinking of naming him Bob, but then I thought of Harry Potter and thought he looked more like a Harry. Don't you think he looks like a Harry?" Greg finally took a breath as he held Harry up in Nick's face. Harry blinked, his tail swishing back and forth like he was aggitated.
"Sure. Whatever. Now, go put that thing in a cage or something before he pisses and makes a mess all over the house." Nick waved Harry out of his face. Greg abruptly pulled Harry away and cuddled him against his chest. Harry's tail twitched even more. He turned his fluffy head and stared at Greg for a second before wiggling around. Greg put him on the floor and he sat there, then took off down the hallway. Of course, Nick saw this and freaked.
"Get it!"
Greg sighed in annoyance and walked after Harry. "Harry! Harry, no don't get in the heater! Harry, no! Harry, bad boy!" Greg was running now to keep up with the fast animal. "Harry, don't pee on the carpet!"
Nick plopped down on the couch and sighed loudly. He had an idiot boyfriend.
"Harry!"
