This is in response to   [info]carolinecrane 's meme.

She prompted me with Nick and Greg, break room cup cakes and pink frosting...

Strawberry Cupcakes

Greg couldn’t remember ever feeling as gross as he did now.  His clothes stuck to him, his shoes slipped off his bare heels with a disgusting, wet slurp.  He reeked of mildew and he was sure, horrifyingly sure, that something was logged in his boxers.  Something that had no business being there at all.

“Come help me with my crime scene,” Grissom had said, all innocent and boss-like.  Bastard.  What he’s meant was “you slog around in the disgusting, hasn’t seen a chemical in a year swimming pool that may or may not hold a rotting corpse.  As it turned out, it didn’t.  There still was a God.  He just hated Greg.

Dripping his way to the locker room, Greg glared at all the gathered techs.  They all stood, transfixed.  Like they’d never seen one of Grissom’s victims before. Yes, life just got better and better.  Didn’t these people have actual work to do?

“Greg?”  No.  No, he couldn’t deal with that now.  Perfect, beautiful Nick Stokes was standing in the hall, head tilted in that way that made Greg pant a little.  Looking at Greg with a gentle smile, eyes crinkled with concern.  “You look…”

Yeah, he looked just exactly like he smelled.  He looked…wait, what was that?  Something pink.  Something pink on Nick’s mouth.  Nick must have noticed Greg staring at his mouth.  His pink tongue darted out to lap at the pink smear at the junction of his lips.

Greg felt a little giddy.  Focus.  Shower, clean clothes, home…somewhere he’d have to find a Grissom voodoo doll, but that could wait.

“You okay?  You seem a little frazzled.”  Nick was being diplomatic.  Greg was so far beyond frazzled.

“I’m fine.”  Greg could be diplomatic, too.  “You have something pink on your mouth.”  Well.  That wasn’t what he’d intended to say.  He completed the dork moment by gesturing at his own mouth to illustrate.

Nick swiped at the corner of his mouth.  He looked at the resultant mess on his fingers with a frown.  “Oh,” clearly, mystery solved.  “There are cupcakes in the break room.”  Oh.  Greg loved cup cakes.  Especially strawberry ones.  “They’re strawberry.  With filling.  And pink frosting.  I think its cream cheese.”  He smiled his very attractive Nick smile.  “They’re really good.”

“Good.”  Yeah.  They looked really good.  That was a really good look for Nick.  Greg tried hard not to picture Nick, slathered with pink cream cheese frosting.  He tried really hard.

He stank.  He itched.  He hurt in ways he didn’t want to contemplate.  There was something unknown in his boxers, and Nick was making him hard.  God hated Greg.  He hated him, and Greg didn’t know why.

“Going to go take a shower now.”  He started backing towards the locker room.  “A shower would be good right now.”  He knew he was babbling.  He knew it and couldn’t stop.  Instead of spending any more effort trying, Greg turned tail and practically ran to the safety of the showers.

He didn’t spend any time thinking of Nick once he got there.  Not a moment of consideration was spent on pink frosted cup cakes in the break room.  Yeah.  Greg let the hot water wash over him, hoping the sound of the shower would disguise the sounds of his urgent tug of war with himself.

Spent, exhausted and at least marginally cleaner, Greg changed into mercifully clean boxers.  He debated claiming one of those cup cakes, but decided that he was just too tired to eat right now.  He finished dressing, each layer of clothes feeling pounds heavier than it should.

He’d managed to stagger out to his car, wondering if he was fit to drive.  “Maybe I should take a nap in my car,” he thought.  It was an indication of just how tired he was that even sleeping in his car sounded good.  He was fumbling for his keys when a light cough behind him made him jump.

“Sorry.”  Nick didn’t look sorry.  He was smirking.  And leaning.  Did the man have any idea what he was doing to Greg by leaning on the car like that?  “Seriously Greg?  You look wrecked.”  That was probably still an understatement.  “Let me drive you home.  I’ll pick you up before shift, don’t worry about your car.”

Greg opened his mouth to say no.  He’d just catch a nap in the car.  Be good to go.  Really.  No problem.  That’s what he opened his mouth to say, but he never got the chance.

“I grabbed a couple of those cup cakes for you.  I know how much you like the strawberry ones.”  Nick held out the Tupperware full of goodness.  “They’re really good.”  Greg looked at Nick, watching his helpless blush play across his handsome face.  He was way too tired to go into this now.

“Are you flirting with me?” he blurted.  Oh. God.  He couldn’t possibly have said that.  The deepening of the flush on Nick’s face confirmed that yes, yes he had just made a complete fool of himself.  At least he had exhaustion to blame it on later.

“Yeah.  I guess I am.”  Greg was rendered speechless.  Later, Nick would tease him gently about that.  Now, he reached out, pulling Greg along towards his car.  “You’re pretty slow for such a smart guy.  But, you’ve had a bad day, so I’ll let it slide.”

Before Greg could organize a rational defense Nick had him strapped into the passenger seat.  He smiled at him.  Nick had a very sweet smile.  Greg watched in horror as his fingers traced the curve of that sweet smile.  Really, he seemed unable to control any of his body members.  Nick caught those rebel fingers in his hand and pressed a chaste kiss on them before stepping back to close the door.

Greg stared at his hand.  Nick had kissed his fingers.  He’d saved him cup cakes, and had kissed his fingers.  And there was flirting!  He was way too tired to keep up.  Nick slid into the driver’s side, still smiling.

“It’s okay, Greg.”  He patted Greg’s thigh gently.  “I’ll get you home, get you to bed.”  Wow.  Even through his exhausted haze, Greg thought that sounded really great.  “Tomorrow we can talk about all of this.”

“Okay.”  Greg steeled himself not to say anything else.  He had no control at all today, and it was going to cost him.  “You look really good in pink.”  Oh. God.

Nick’s smile never faltered.  “We can talk about that too.”

Good.  That was really, incredibly good.  Sleep, then cup cakes and Nick.  So good.

He’d still have to find the time to pick up the Grissom voodoo doll, but it didn’t seem so urgent anymore.

Greg's train of thought is just too.damn.cute. And his lack of filter between brain and mouth just about killed me. So freaking adorable. And cupcakes = +100 bonus points :D

Grissom greets discomfiting his employees with ill-concealed pleasure. That's why this story is so spot-on. Good show!
