Title: The Search for a perfect outfit
Rating: PG
Summary: The perfect outfit for the perfect evening was all he wanted...
Notes: Just a random peice of drabble fluff my friend wanted me to write. Prompt Dirty Clothes Hamper from my table

Another piece of clothing landed haphazardly upon the floor as he searched frantically for what he really needed.

“Come on, it has to be here!” He hissed at himself, rummaging through his rather disorganised wardrobe.

He’d been lucky to have been given a chance. It was perhaps a miracle that tonight he was going to go on his first date with the person that had dominated his fantasies for years.  He really wanted everything to be perfect- there couldn’t be any flaws tonight. That is why he wanted what he was searching for, so badly, otherwise everything would be spoilt before it even began.

To be completely honest, he wasn’t exactly a vain person. He didn’t spend a lot of time focusing upon his image; proven by the mass of neon shirts and the messy hair. But tonight… Tonight was different to any other time. He wanted to look stunning; he wanted his appearance to make an impression. After all- this was his time to dazzle and impress; after waiting years for this opportunity it had finally arrived.

He was in a complete mess, not knowing what to do. His empty wardrobe almost smiling tauntingly at him; just to tease him of the impending doom and he still hadn’t found it! He rifled through the clothes he had strewn everywhere, hoping that maybe he had overlooked the particular item he was looking for. But it was proving to be far too difficult to find.

Did I wash it? He questioned himself, and he immediately had the feeling of dread filling his soul. He left his room hastily, tripping on a rogue shirt that had twisted itself around his ankles. He sighed, throwing it on top of a lamp that stood beside his bed. He headed down the hallway and stopped outside the laundry basket, pulling out the content. Sure enough, there at the bottom was the shirt he had been looking for.

Why didn’t I think this through? He thought to himself miserably, heading back into his bedroom. Everything was meant to be perfect! Why did he always do things like this? All but one hour ago he had the idea of wearing the perfect outfit for the perfect night.

But now the event of a lifetime was fast approaching and he was stood there looking like this! If anyone saw him right now, they’d doubt that he’d actually thought it through. Of course, his date wouldn’t know how much time he’d spent planning for this night. Yes, he was overly excited about it, but this was something he’d wanted to go so well. First impressions really did count in the dating business; he knew that from past experiences. This was the one time he wouldn’t want to mess it all up before he even began, this was too precious a moment.

The doorbell pierced his thoughts, and he grimaced. His date was here, early no less. He was in a stage of dress, and his perfect outfit non-existent. Instead he was faced with a pair of black jeans and not much else. He grabbed one of the tops from the bed, pulling it on hastily. He looked at himself in the mirror, cursing his misfortune. From the moment he had agreed to this, until the moment it had arrived- it had been a snowballing disaster. It just went to prove that perfection was not in his nature. In fact, it went to prove that he wasn’t good at time-keeping either. Next time (if there was a next time) he’d make sure that he’d put aside more than one hour to get ready.

He didn’t look as breath-taking as he had wanted -needed- to look for this particular moment. The shirt he had picked, luckily wasn’t one of the hideous neon ones that he was still clinging onto for old times sake, but was up had to be one of the worst of his relatively normal shirts. It was a burnt red button down shirt that loosely clung to him- and he picked up his leather jacket to go with it. He sighed, so much for the perfect outfit.

The doorbell rung again, he was definitely getting impatient, or maybe he was dubious whether this was really the right thing to do. He took a calming breath, walking over to the door. He straightened his clothes out again; checking his hair was still standing up at odd angles- and opened the door.

He looked perfectly relaxed as always. He had kept with his normal clothing, which worked wonders for his athletic build and… He looked stunning. He smiled shyly at him; never before could he say that he had been shy towards another human. His date returned it with his normal jovial, heart melting grin.

“Hey,” His tone soft and light. “You look really good tonight.”

He blushed violently.

“Thanks Nick.”

This is so cute, and somehow reminds me of me, since I never seem to be able to find my clothes I want to wear either. It made me laugh, nice work.

thank you. Just, thank you. I know have this huge dopey grin on my face. Mind you, I'd have even if I wasn't doing what I was when i read this, but I do. You see, right before i started reading this, I was doing my laundry. And I found the top I'd been looking for this last week. Oh Greg, He's such a dork, but that's why we love him. And it is just me, but for some reason I have the impression Nick would have loved -anything- he put on. <33

(I'm glad that Greg couldn't fix his hair because their messy state are one of his most adorable features.)

Hey there! Glad to see more from you. And it's so good!

I have one, tiny thing that just RUINS it for me. Ok, totally not enough to warrant the capslocks, but it's too late to go back and erase now, because I'm lazy like woah.

He really wanted everything to be prefect- there couldn’t be any flaws tonight. -- Should be "perfect".

I really liked how you captured Greg's nervousness and anxiety concerning the situation. Relateable, believable and oh so cute.
