summary: It's friday, and the end of the two weeks. How will Nick decide?

A/N: This actually is an INTERLUDE. So it isn't that long.

They eventually had fallen asleep, wrapped up in each other.

Nick dreamt that night about Greg, like he had for the last several nights. It seemed as if Greg had found his way in his dreams quite easily. And it was unbelievable that he would leave tomorrow. Well, he knew he didn’t have to leave, but there was still Michael. Who he hadn’t forgotten, but just slightly ignored.

When he woke up, Nick rolled into cold sheets. Greg was gone – most likely off to prepare breakfast, but Nick was so used to being the one awake first.

Wandering to the veranda, he found Greg waiting for him with coffee, a light breakfast and a newspaper that they could share. They chatted idly about current events and then cleaned up together. As Nick was placing the last dish into the washer, he noticed that Greg was gone.

When Nick found him, Greg was sitting on the stairs in the entrance hall. The pain was obvious on his face – they were both more than aware that it was to be Nick’s last day. And for that occasion, Greg had prepared a surprise. He was sitting on the staircase, naked and fingering himself with lube. He wanted to give himself to Nick.

Greg looked directly up at Nick, fingers still in his ass. “I want you to have me the way I’ve had you.”

“Greg,” Nick started, if it was even making a difference. “I can’t. Sorry, but my cab will be here any minute and if we start this now I’m sure we won’t be done by the time the cab arrives. You deserve something better than just being fucked in 5 minutes on a staircase.”

“I don’t…I don’t understand. What do you mean your cab is going to be here any minute? I … I…” Greg tired to get up from the stairs.

“I have to go Greg. I’m sorry. I called a cab while in the kitchen. I can’t stay any longer, I’m sorry.”

“But... why? Michael isn’t going to be back before late afternoon and it’s still early. Can’t you stay for another hour?”

“Greg, I need to go home. I want to make sure everything is alright. And I want to prepare a few things…”

“Prepare? What do you want to pre- … oh, okay. I’ll understand. I mean…go, when you need to prepare things,” Greg said, and Nick could hear the pain in Greg’s voice.

“Greg, I…”

“No, go. It’s okay. What was I thinking anyway? That you would stay? You probably were looking for Friday morning all week long, the day you would get away. So…I don’t want to keep you…you have better things to do, just…go. Have a great life, Nick. I’ll might see you with my next tax thingy,” Greg said, staring at the floor as he tried to pull his pants back on with some sense of grace.

Nick wanted to go after Greg, tell him that this last two weeks were the best of his entire life and that he wasn’t just in Greg’s house because Greg had kidnapped him. Maybe in the beginning – but it was different. He needed to deal with the Greg-thing without Greg there.

The cab started to honk outside, telling him that he had to go – that he had to do the right thing. He needed to get back to his real life – whatever that was.

He never noticed that Greg had watched him take every step to the cab.

Argh, you guys are gonna make me cry, aren't you! Poor, poor Greg *sighs*.
I'm really nervous about the last chapter. I already know it's definitely gonna be worth reading, but I'm still biting my fingernails in nervous anticipation for the ending.
