Could Be

Greg knows what he wants. He's not giving up just because Nick doesn't know how to handle this incendiary thing between them that's probably not a good idea but feels important. He wants a chance to show Nick how good it could be. How hot, right, fanfuckingtastic they could be together.

Nick never says no, but he never says yes either. He just sidesteps the flirting, pretends he doesn't see what Greg is offering. But he knows. Greg knows he knows and it's driving him crazy. He's not letting go, just because Nick won't acknowledge what could be.

Will Be

Nick knows what he wants. But he wants it on his own terms. He won't be some flight of fancy for a social butterfly. Been that too many times already. Greg is a whole different type of person than Nick is used to, and it takes some adjustment being pursued.

It scares him even as it thrills him, letting Greg chase him until Nick catches him. It will be great once it happens, but Nick waits. Waits for the right moment, the right sign. Patience, perseverance, and hard work got him to CSI-3, and so will they get him to Greg.

Is

Naked legs entwined, hands clasped, fingers linked. Their mouths meeting, parting to murmur random thoughts that range from embarrassingly profound to amusingly nonsensical. Greg laughs, his heart light for the first time in weeks.

Cheeks flushed, eyes twinkling, Nick grins and brushes his lips down Greg's neck, gentle teasing that makes Greg shiver and squirm. As good as he thought it'd be, as sweet a relief it is to catch and be caught, as hot as it is making love with Nick, Greg still marvels over the dizzying slide from friends to lovers, wonders if this is what love is.
