Summary: Gin and Nick end up leaving Warrick and Sara. They have a nice dinner and the 4 meet up again at a Casino.

I am getting very annoyed, and so is Nick. We stopped at Nick’s bar because Nick forgot to turn something in, or on and the guy there couldn’t figure it out. I don’t know.

“Guys, I’m getting hungry,” Nick says, tossing a paper napkin at Warrick and Sara. She is sitting over his lap. I think her tongue is all the way down his throat. I look away from them.

“We could leave without them,” Nick says, looking at me.

“I don’t think they’d notice if we did leave,” I say. Should I go alone with him? There’s that smile again and he holds his hand out for mine.

“My car is here,” he says. I put my hand in his and I stand up. I again look at Sara. She doesn’t see us. So, we walk out of the bar. I know I’m going to hear about this later.

Nick stops and looks at the limo.

“No, we’ll take the limo. He’s got a key to my car,” Nick says, pulling me the other way, now. I don’t say anything and follow him to the limo.

“Where are your friends?” The driver asks.

“They decided to stay here,” Nick said as the driver opened the door for us. I got in and Nick followed me. The driver shut the door and I sat back in my seat and tried to calm my nerves.

“Where to, next?” He asks as the starts the car.

“Zio’s,” Nick says. I look up at him.

“I’ve always wanted to eat there,” I say, softly. The few times I’ve gone out, there has been a wait longer than anyone could stand, so we’ve never gone there.

Nick smiles and takes my hand. I close my eyes and again fight the fear down. We pulled up to the restaurant, and, just like always, there are people waiting outside. The drivers pulls up to the front and gets out. He opens the door for us and Nick gets out first. He holds his hand out for me and I take a hold of his hand and he helps me out. We make our way inside and I hear the hostess tell the couple in front of us there is already a four hour wait. I wonder if we are going to wait that long.

“Hello,” the hostess says.

Nick smiles at her. “I have a table waiting for us,” he says.

“What is your name?” She asks.

“It should be under Stokes,” he says.

She looks at her list. “I’ll go check and see if it’s ready.” She disappears and returns.

“Please, follow me,” she says.

“Wow,” I say. “I didn’t think they took reservations,” I say as we are seated.

“They don’t, but I know the owner,” Nick said. “So, I gave him a call and he saved us a table.”

I look down at the menu, but I already know what I want. You can’t come here without having their five-cheese chicken alfredo. It’s what they are known for.

“I was thinking we could go try our luck at the tables for a while before the movie,” Nick says.

The waiter comes over to us.

“Can I get you a drink?” He asks.

“I’ll have Bud Light,” Nick says. He looks at me and I smile. “And a coke for her,” he says as I close my menu. “Are you ready to order?”

Nick looks at me and I nod.

“I’ll have the five-cheese chicken alfredo,” I say.

“I’ll have the same,” Nick says.

The waiter takes the menus. “Salad and bread?” He asks.

“That would be great,” Nick says.

“I will be right back with your drinks,” he says.

“Wow, this place is really nice,” I say.

Nick smiles and reaches over and takes my hand.

“So, cards?” he asks again.

“Oh, yeah. I’m never played before, but it sounds fun,” I say.

“You’ve never played?” He asks, looking at me.

“I’ve never been in one of the casinos,” I say.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Nick says.

I shake my head. “Like I said, I don’t go out much.”

“Well, I hope that changes,” Nick says. He smiles. “That sounded better in my head.”

I smile. “I know what you were getting at,” I say.

Our salads, bread, and drinks are brought out to us. I take a bit of the bread, another thing everyone raves about here.

“Oh, wow, this is really good Best I’ve had. Don’t tell Vinnie,” I say, taking another bit.

“Who is Vinnie?” Nick asks.

“Oh, it’s Sara’s brother. He’s like my brother,He really is a chef.” I say.

Nick nods and starts on his salad. Just as we finish up with our salads, our dinners are brought out to us.

“Prefect timing,” Nick says as the waiter clears our dirty plates and places our dinners in front of us. He also refills our drinks. I taste a bit and it melts in my mouth.

“Oh, God, Vinnie’s going to kill me,” I say. It’s the best thing I’ve tasted in along time. Who am I kidding? It’s the best think I’ve ever eaten.

“So, what do you think?” Nick asks.

“I think Vinnie is going to hate me,” I say, smiling.

“I’ll have to meet this Vinnie and tell him it’s all my fault,” he says.

“I may hold you up to that,” I say. Before I know it, I’ve cleaned my whole plate.

“Any room for dessert?” The waiter asks.

I shake my head. I’m so stuffed, I think I’m going to explode. Nick pays the bill and we head for the exit.

“I have to use the ladies room,” I say.

He stops and waits as I walk inside. I got into the last stall and lock the door. I lean up on the wall and place my hand on my stomach. I take in a few deep breaths. I lift my dress up and sit down making sure everything is down where it should be. I take care of my needs and stand up and pull my underwear up. Well, really, it’s a gaff, to hide any bulge I may have. It’s uncomfortable as hell, but it’s something I never go out without. The last thing I need is for it to come alive make itself known. I walk out and head over to the mirror. I wash my hands and open my bag and remove my lipstick.

“Aren’t you a pretty thing?” I hear. I see an older lady walking inside. She smiles at me as she, too, washes her hands. I touch up my lip stick and replace it in my bag.

“Thanks,” I say, reaching for a towel. I dry my hands and notice she is still looking at me. I reach for the door.

“Are you single?” She asks.

“I’m dating someone,” I say.

“All the pretty ones are taken,” she says. “I was looking for a nice, pretty girl for my grandson”.

“I’m sorry,” I say, smiling.

“Well, I hope he treats you right, and you have fun,” she says.

“I’m sure he will,” I say, walking out.

Nick greets me with a smile that sends a chill down me. He takes my hand and we walk outside. I can’t help but wonder why he wasn’t asked me anything about what he learned at the bar. I jump a bit as my phone rings.

“It’s Sara,” I say.

“You know, for a shrink, she sure treats you badly,” he says. “I mean, I probably shouldn’t say anything….” He says as we reach the limo.

I don’t answer it and I turn it off. “Well, she’s kind of two different people, She not like that at work.” I say. “She’s had a hard time. Her bother lost his wife just before I moved here and she’s been helping him out. He took it very hard. He’s just now getting to a good place again,” I say, getting in the limo. “She’s making up for lost time, I guess,” I say. He’s right, though, I’m so mad at her right now. It was her idea to go on a double date to begin with and she pulls that crap. Telling me to be careful and not do anything stupid, when she’s sucking on some guy’s tongue she’s only meet a day ago.

“Where to?” The driver asks. Nick looks at the clock. It’s a bit after seven.

“The Bellagio,” he says, and I wonder if he was anything else up his sleeve. We stop at the fountains. I’ve never seem them in person.

“Can you believe all the guys in Ocean’s Eleven stood here?” I ask.

He smiles. “My phone is a camera, I could take your picture,” he says, pulling it out.

I nod and he backs up.

“Say cheese,” he says.

I smile and wait.

“That’s nice,” he says, showing it to me. He puts his phone in his pocket and leans on the railing.

“So, are you going to teach me to play cards?” I say after a while. It's almost like he's waiting for it be later.

“Sure,” Nick says, putting his arm around me. He pulls me close and we walk inside. I pull away just a bit, looking around.

“This is amazing,” I say. I feel like a tourist, or something and I’ve lived here three years!

He looks at his watch. “Do you want a drink?” He asks, stopping. I know he’s got something else planned and we must be too early for it.

“Yeah,” I say, and we walk over to the bar.

He gets another beer and I get a glass of wine. We sit down and he keeps looking at his watch.

“What’s going on?” I ask.

“Nothing, just checking the time,” he says, standing up.

“Oh, really?” I ask.

“I got us a table,” he says

“Our own table?” I ask.

“Yeah,” he says. “I thought dinner would take a bit longer. I got the table for 8:30.”

I smile and stand up.

“We could play the slots for a while,” he says.

“That sounds fun,” I say as we walk inside. I stop, seeing the security guard checking IDs.

“I can’t go in there,” I say, backing up. ‘Shit, I got…. my driver’s license still says Greg Sanders on it!’ My mind screams at me.

“It’s ok,” Nick says, turning towards me.

“No, it’s not,” I say. He walks towards me. No, I can’t show this man my license with that name and photo on it. I back up a bit more.

“Come on, let’s go inside,” he says placing his hand on my back. I swallow but, don’t put up a fight.

“Hello, Nick!” The guard calls out. “So, is this the lady that lost her ID?”

“Ginger, this is Steven,” he says as the guard shakes my hand. He hands me a card. “Have fun and, hopefully, you’ll win,” he says. We walk inside and I turn towards the guard one last time. I then look at Nick.

“How did you know?” I ask.

“I had a feeling,” he says, checking his watch. “We got about twenty minutes until our table is ready,” he says. I run my hand through my hair.

I look around at all the bright and noisy machines, watching people pour their life savings in them. It’s almost kind of sad how people can get hooked on these things.

“The wild aces are fun,” Nick says as we walk over to them. I sit down and open my bag. He sits next to me and removes his wallet. He holds out a twenty for me.

“No, you don’t have to pay for that,” I say, removing my own money.

“Then, I’ll treat for cards,” he says as I insert my card and smiles as it says, “Welcome, Ginger Sanders!” I wonder how he know my last name but I decide not to ask. I watch the machine suck in my twenty. I pull the handle and watch. Nothing.

“I’m down three,” I say, smiling.

Nick pulls his machine and the thing comes to life. It flashes and makes all kinds of music like he just won a the big jackpot. I look and he’s only won five credits.

“Wow, all that for that?” I ask.

“You’re a hard women to impress,” Nick says, pulling the machine again. It does the same thing, but, this time, he wins three credits. I lose three again. We do this until he both lost our money and head over to the card table. It’s now 8:30.

“I don’t play the slots much,” he says. “I like a game where you have to think.”

“Do you come here a lot?” I ask, wondering how he got us our own table.

“About once a month. My brother is a dealer here,” he says as we walk up to the table. I look at a man that is almost a spitting image of Nick.

“This is my brother, Nathaniel,” he says. “Call him Nate. Nate, this is Ginger.”

“Hello. Nice to meet you,” he says, holding is hand out to me. I shake it and sit down. Nick removed two one-hundred dollar bills and hands them to Nate.

“Where the hell did you guys go?” I hear. I turn and see Sara and Warrick.

“We tried to tell you,” Nick says as Nate gave us our chips.

Sara looks at me and sits down.

“You should have told us you were leaving,” Warrick says.

“Well, if you two would have stop sucking face long enough, you would have heard us,” Nick says.

“You guys in?” Nate asks.

Warrick nods and pulls out his wallet.

Sara looks at me and I look away. She’s staring at me. I close my eyes.

“Nick, could you get me a wine cooler, or something?” I ask.

“Yeah, sure,” he says, looking for a waitress. He flags one down and gets himself another beer as well.

“So, are you guy having fun?” Sara asks with a harshness in her voice.

“Yeah, we are,” I say, looking away again. “Looks like you’re having fun, too,” I say, pointing out the hickey on her neck.

Sara touches her neck and tries to look at it. I smile and take the drink from Nick.

“Did you eat?” Sara asks.

“Yeah, I had the five-cheese chicken alfredo,” I say, taking a sip. “Thank,” I say to Nick.

“Ok, I love you and all, but you only have this table for two hours,” Nate says. “So, who is in?”

“What game are we playing?” I ask.

“Blackjack,” Nick says as Nate nodded. I’m sure he picked something easy for me. I sit down and Nate gives Sara and Warrick their chips.

“How did you get in here?” Sara whispers.

“I told the guard I lost my card and he believed me. Plus, he was a friend of Nick’s,” I say, partly lying to her. I take another drink and watch Nate work his magic on the cards.
