Just a quick little ficlet thing...
Story Title: 1:30 am
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: G
Disclaimer:I obviously own nothing.
Summary: Greg will wait all night if he has too...
It's like a release as he runs his fingers through his hair, listening intently to the music flowing from the speakers around him. He's sitting at his computer, catching up on files and listening to some song that he's fairly sure he's heard seven times in the past two hours. It's donning on 1:30 in the morning, but he doesn't care; he'll stay up as long as he has to if it means being awake when Nick finally gets in. The tiny living room of his apartment is overly warm for the cool April night, and the only light he's allowing is the light of his monitor and that of his fish tank.
He closes his eyes and rolls his neck, fully aware of the tiredness that's beginning to set in, but doesn't go to bed; he know's that Nick should be home any minute now. Instead, he runs thin fingers through too-long strands of hair and wonders if maybe he ought to look into better air conditioning for the room. He's sure that if he keeps typing, he'll be sure to just fall asleep right there on the keyboard, because it was menial and needed little brain power.
He's already eaten the entire chocolate rabbit that he'd planned on saving for the following week, and he was itching for a glass of cool milk but felt that his legs would just collapse on him if he made any motion to move from his spot on the rolling foot stool he sat on. He felt that perhaps he ought to get a chair, because Nick was right; sitting on a stool for as long as he sometimes does must be doing horrors on his back. Besides; they were out of milk.
He looks up as the front door opens and Nick enters, and gives a silent cheer at the jug of milk in his hands and the bag of sweets he spots gripped in Nick's other hand. He pushes his feet along the floor until his stool is in front of Nick and his eyes are level with Nick's waist, and offers him a sweet smile.
"You bought milk. And sweets. I love you so much." he states, and Nick chuckles, ditching his coat on the coat rack before depositing the jug and the bag in Greg's lap and steering him towards the kitchen. Greg pulls his legs up to sit cross legged on the stool, letting out a yawn as Nick puts the milk in the fridge.
"And a good mornign to you too, sunshine. Shouldn't you be in bed? You've been sick for three days." Greg gives him a look, and Nick steers the stool back to the computer, saving his work and shutting it down for the night.
"I was waiting for you." Greg states sweetly, "You know I can't sleep without you."
