Fandom: CSI
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG
Summary: Greg feels like he lost himself somewhere along the road and he needs all the help he can get.
A/N: I know this may sound confusing and what not but there are going to be more chapters to come that wil uncover it all.
When Nick got home the first thing that he saw was a suitcase that sat in front of the door. Confused, he walked down the hall and turned into the bedroom to see Greg going through some of the drawers.
Nick leaned up against the door frame and watched the younger man. “What’s up?”
Greg quickly looked up and shut the dresser draw. “Uh…You’re home early.”
“Nice to see you too.” Nick said sarcastically, his brow rose. “Did I interrupt you?”
Greg sighed and rubbed the back of his neck and moved away from the drawers and this time went to the end table, grabbing some of his belongings.
“Why is your suitcase out there?”
Again, Greg ignored him and then went to the closet grabbing what was left of his clothes that weren’t in his suitcase.
“Are you…” Nick’s voice went hollow as Greg threw his clothes onto the bed. “…leaving me?”
“It’s not you.” Greg finally said as he stuffed his clothes into another suitcase. “It’s me.”
“What are you talking about baby?” Nick asked as he peeled himself off of the door frame and wrapped his arms around Greg. “There’s nothing wrong with you.”
“Stop,” Greg said firmly as he pushed Nick away. “Don’t make me change my mind because I won’t.”
Nick backed away and began to worry. Greg was never like this. “So, why are you leaving?”
“You don’t deserve me Nick.” He said as he closed his suitcase and brushed past Nick and out into the hall.
Nick followed. “What do you mean I don’t deserve you?”
“I think you’ve fallen in love with someone that isn’t real.” Greg said as he grabbed his own jacket and threw it around his shoulders.
“What? I’ve fallen in love with Greg Sanders. You’re real, G.”
“No. This isn’t me.”
Nick’s brow rose again. “You’re confusing me.”
Greg took in a deep breath and picked up his suitcases. “I need time to think. I think I’ve become someone else and I’ve lost my true self a long time ago.”
Nick stared at Greg for the longest time. None of what Greg was saying made sense.
“I’m going,” Greg said as he managed to open the door, “my flight leaves in an hour.”
Nick’s mouth had gone dry. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “My God. You are leaving me.”
Greg shook his head. “I’m not leaving you. I’m going home. I have to look at my life again.”
“Wait, you’re going home? California?”
Greg nodded. “I’m starting over.”
“What about me?”
An awkward silence fell over the two and Greg’s grip on his suitcase tightened. He didn’t want to hurt Nick.
“Is it about the gun shooting that you gone through at the crime scene?”
Greg didn’t say anything and Nick sighed. “Greg, we can talk about this.”
“No Nick. There are some things about me that you still don’t know and I just feel like I need to go home.”
Nick felt like he had been slapped in the face.
“I have to go. Bye.” And with that he turned around and left. The door closing behind him.
Nick couldn’t let him go. Greg didn’t even really give him a good explanation. Determined, Nick grabbed his jacket and car keys before leaving the home and chasing after the only one true thing that he ever cared about.
