Nick rolled over, groaning softly. He looked at the clock, the neon green numbers coming into focus. 8:16AM. Stretching out his arm, his heart stopped as his hand moved over the cold, empty mattress next to him. He sat up quickly, his body in panic mode. Recognition hit him like a bus as memories from last night’s confrontation came flooding back to him.
