Title: Recipe for Happiness
Challenge: The Recipe Challenge
Rating: G
Summary: Greg likes making Nick try new things.

AN: This was possibly the easiest drabblething I have ever written in my life. Nick and Greg wrote it for me. [livejournal.com profile] 0creativity beta'd and approved, so I hope you all enjoy.

“It is, quite possibly, the most delicious thing I have ever tasted.”

“I think I should be upset by that.”

Greg laughed and bumped his hip against Nick’s, trying to push him away. “You shouldn’t be. You’re the most delicious person.”

Nick looked at him, one eyebrow raised. “Again, I think I should be upset by that. Just how many people have you, uh, tasted?”

He paused in the middle of mashing up the bananas and smirked. “From what I’ve heard of your wild frat boy days, probably not as many as you, but that’s neither here nor there. Hand me the sugar, will you?”

Nick shook his head in amusement. “Actually, I believe that is here and there, and for your information, I did not regularly partake of those activities.”

“That’s because you’re queerer than a three dollar bill,” he deadpanned.

“I resent that,” Nick pouted, crossing his arms over his chest playfully.

“Then, my friend, you resent truth.”

“What are you doing now?”

Greg grinned. “Is that your not-so-subtle way of changing the topic? Because it’s not working.”

“No, really,” Nick said, peering over his shoulder as Greg added a liberal amount of sugar into the bowl. “This is supposed to be good, right?”

“Nick,” he sighed, caught halfway between amusement and exasperation. “I wouldn’t feed you something bad on purpose.”

“Oh, yeah?” Nick challenged, wrapping his arm’s around Greg waist and resting his cheek against the back of Greg’s neck. “What about that fish pudding? Fiskefasle or something?”

“You asked what Norwegian food my Grandma used to cook,” Greg protested, giving the ingredients in his bowl a final stir before reaching for two bowls in the counter. “I never said it would be good. And it’s Fiskepudding,” he added. “Fish pudding.”

“It was disgusting.”

“Agreed,” he said, turning around and kissing Nick lightly on the kips. “Now, try this. It’s the ultimate recipe for happiness. Guaranteed.”

Nick already had his eyes screwed shut when Greg stuck the spoon of milky white pudding in his mouth. “Mhmm,” he said, opening his eyes in surprise. “This is good.”

“Told you,” Greg smirked, taking a bite out of his own bowl. “But it’s my super secret recipe, so don’t you go telling anyone about it.”

“Promise,” Nick said, sitting next to Greg on the couch and taking another bite. “But you’re wrong, you know.”

He gave Nick a highly affronted look. “About what?”

Nick squirmed a little in his seat, but met his eyes defiantly. “Your guarantee. My recipe for happiness is you.”

It was embarrassing, really, at how quickly the tears threatened to sting his eyes.

xxx

Greg was making something called Bananenqwak (I spelled that wrong, I know, but I can‘t find the correct spelling anywhere), and it’s technically a German recipe, but the Swede’s eat it too, I’ve heard, so I decided that Greg does as well.

The recipe itself is hard to write out, because we don’t use measurement, but I’ll try my best. It’s per person, so double the recipe as many times as you need.

2 bananas, mashed
½ cup of sour cream
¼ cup sugar (although dump in as much as you like, because that’s how I do it)

Put it all in a bowl and mix it around until you find a consistancy you like. Then eat. Yum.

Please don’t hate me if you taste this and think it’s a bit bitter - really, just add more sugar. Or banana. It’s incredibly good, even though it sounds weird.

Best line I've read in some time.

I love humor fics, especially when I'm writing something on the angsty side.

The last line made me go all squeeful and say AWWWWW. Which is always a good thing. Although I kept waiting for Greg to dab a little of his mixture on Nick's face and then lick it off, because my mind is dirty that way. *g*

I never thought to read a story about Bananenquark *laughs* and yes, it is very yummy and fresh and sweet like your story and Nick and Greg together being domestic.

My grandma made it for me and my brother everytime we spent our holidays at hers. Now I'm making it for my kids. Mmh *scratches her head*, methinks this dessert has become a family tradition.

I have such a fondness for domestict!Nick&Greg, ...
Me too ... oh, and first time. So go on writing ;-) *sends you a package of spices*

(Gosh, I just realized that I haven't commented in this community sinces ages *hides*. So it needs a pot of Bananenquark to get out again *snickers*.)

I liked that fic, so sweet.

the recipe you had at the end is pretty much a world wide one. My mother was a nurse before she retired, and they were taught to make this and give it to patients to "Line their stomachs" if they could not keep any food down. The thoery was even if you could keep it down for a little bit the calcium and sugars would do you good. I used to get it when i was little, and it is YUMMY.

There is also a version with a raw egg yolk mixed in, but only for adults who need protein, and is yucky.
