Summary: There was a discusson at TalkCSI about Vamp!Greg so I got a little idea for a vampire fic with Nick and Greg. This is chapter one of that.
A/N: Big thanks to
quettaser and
fred_bear for beta reading me.
Nick sat in the locker room, rubbing the back of his neck in an attempt to relieve some of the tension. It had been a long, gruesome day. Another mutilated body had been found. The third in the last month with its throat ripped to shreds. All the evidence indicated that they were killed where found, but there was only a trace of blood at each of the scenes. Doc Robbins had ruled that all three had died of exsanguination. So where had all the blood gone? They were no closer to finding an answer now than after the first victim, and he was starting to feel the strain. He sat there so deep in thought that he didn't hear the footsteps behind him. Not until he felt the hands on his neck, and a voice whispering to his ear.
"You look a little tense. I know a way to help with that."
Nick turns around to find Greg grinning at him.
"I know you do," Nick smiles back, "but if we do that here, people will start talking."
Greg feigning shock replies, "what exactly are you implying? I was merely talking about a neck massage."
"Oh yeah right."
"Well, a neck massage now...maybe a different kind of massage after I get home from work."
Nick stands up and closes his locker before leaning over to Greg, "I'm going to hold you to that."
"You can hold anything you want," Greg whispers back.
"Hey Greg, are you coming or what?" Sara asks as she enters the room.
"Not for a while," Greg says softly to himself grabbing his kit then out loud, "Catch you later, Nick."
Nick nods at them as they leave. The thoughts of his grisly crime scenes replaced by anticipation of Greg getting off work, Nick heads home for a few hours of sleep.

After about twenty minutes, Greg and Sara arrive at the crime scene. It's an old abandoned warehouse surrounded by even more old abandoned warehouses. As they enter the warehouse, they see Brass talking to one of his police officers. Seeing them, Brass nods to the officer and walks over.
“The coroner’s already pronounced so the scene is all yours,” Brass begins as the three of them walk to the far end of the building, “It’s another victim with his throat slashed.”
“I think that makes four similar murders in the last month,” says Sara as she and Brass discuss the scene. Greg walks over to the body and begins taking photos of the body and surrounding area. He’s just finishing up when Sara walks over to him.
“Look at this,” he says indicating the small drops leading away from the body.
“It looks like a blood trail,“ she responds while swabbing and testing it. “Yep, definitely blood,” she says as the swab turns pink. Why don’t you follow it, and number the drops as evidence? I’ll finish up here with the body.
“I’m on it,” he says.
He makes his way through the building, numbering and photographing. As he reaches the back door, he pulls out his flashlight and continues on outside. After only a few feet, it begins to get harder to follow. Tall weeds and brush begin to make it difficult to find anything on the ground. Convinced that he’s followed as far as he can, Greg turns to go back when he hears the sound of the brush moving behind him. Turning back, he sees nothing at first. He shines his flashlight back, he notices a small piece of black fabric snagged on a branch.
‘How did I miss that?’ he thinks to himself.
Pulling out a pair of tweezers, he kneels down and carefully pulls the fabric from the brush. He begins putting it into an evidence bag when he feels a cold shiver down his spine. Shuddering at the feeling, he stands up only to feel breath on the back of his neck. Turning quickly, he’s confronted by merely the empty lot between the building and himself. Feeling uneasy, Greg gathers everything, and heads back to the building. He stops for a quick look back when he reaches the door. Seeing nothing, he walks over to Sara who is just finishing up with the body.
“Hey, Greg,” she smiles at him,” you about done?”
“Yeah. The trail ends at the overgrown brush in the back of the building, but I found a scrap of black fabric in it.”
“Well, since our victim is wearing a red shirt and jeans, let’s hope it’s from the perp.”
A few minutes later, they finish bagging the evidence. Making their way back to the car, Greg just can’t shake the feeling of being watched. As Sara gets into the car, Greg stands staring back at the building.
“Something wrong?” Sara asks.
He decides that it’s just be the spooky, deserted atmosphere. “No nothing,” he says aloud as he gets into the car.
Neither of them is aware of the figure in the shadows watching them as they drive away.
