S7Ep07 Post Mortem
Let's discuss the fourth nominated episode for Season 7 in our Search For The Favorite Nick/Greg Moment Of All Time! In the aftermath of Fanny Smackin' we find Nick in the courtroom stand, ready to defend Greg's actions. Of course our guys are not allowed to talk to each other, but the glances back and forth are clearly showing their feelings.

{*whispers: "I just want to be able to sleep again."*}

01.
NICK: These glass fragments are from the mob breaking out the windows of CSI Sanders' Denali.

02.
[FLASHBACK]
NICK: [VO] That's how they dragged him out.

03.
(Nick continues. His testimony is interspersed with flashes from 7X04: ‘Fannysmackin’.)
NICK: This is a clump of his hair, torn from his scalp. And that's the rock Demetrius James used as a weapon.

04.
STUPID MALE JUROR 1: According to who? This is the first we've even heard that Demetrius James had a weapon.

05.
Assistent District Attorney VALERIE NICHOLS: In his report, Mr. Sanders testified to that fact. The rock was found at the scene.
{Ahw, look how defeated yet composed Greg is sitting :'(}

06.
DUMB MALE JUROR 1: How do we know the cops didn't plant it there?
JUDGE: Sir, I've warned you.
NICK: I'd like to answer that question.
{Go Nick \o/}

07.
NICK: Usually, when someone plants a weapon, whoever did it puts it right beside the body -- in this case, the rock was found near the front tire of the Denali. Skid marks suggest it was dropped upon impact.

08.
DUMB MALE JUROR 1: A rock against two tons of steel.

09.
NICK: No. More like one man against an extremely violent, out-of-control mob.
{That look is like a hug. A very tight hug.}

10.
{and Greg feels it}

11.
{but Male Juror 1 is not done with the dumb questions yet...}
DUMB MALE JUROR 1: What's department policy in a situation like that?
{Oh, wait, that's actually not such a bad question}

12.
NICK: It has always been department policy not to harm innocent civilians.

13.
NICK: You call for backup, you try to be a good witness, and you stay out of the way.
{Ahw, he's clearly realizing how Greg failed that last one. Where's his woobie :'(}

14.
DUMB MALE JUROR 1: So what makes it okay to start running over people?
{Oh forget it, he IS a dumbass. *rolls eyes*}

15.
NICK: Well, when those people are wearing masks, running around beating people up.

16.
AARON JAMES: Man, DJ was going to a costume party.
{*bites tongue to prevent self from saying something rude*}

17.
NICK: One victim was dead. Another was seriously injured. Another fatality imminent.
{I'm so in awe of Nick staying calm}

18.
NICK: I'd say the use of deadly force in this case was consistent with department policy, absolutely.

19.
{The guys exchange a little Nod of LoveTM here, but obviously it means *HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGS*}

Granted: it's not a very festive episode, but we hope it will give you happy feelings none the less. Snuggle up to each other in the comments!
Season 7 was all in all a rough one, but it also gave us: The Jawclench of LoveTM (S7Ep04), The Wink of LoveTM (S7Ep13) and the Nick/Greg Nod Of LoveTM (S7Ep18)! You can vote for your favorite moment of Season 7 here. (There are links to all the mentioned Nick/Greg trademarks;)

We are going to take a little holiday break, but to keep you entertained we posted a musical prompt to inspire you to submit more fun fanworks featuring Nick/Greg.
Thanks to everyone who shared their creations in the past year. Best wishes for the final days of 2011 and we'll see you all back here in 2012!

*hugs and kisses to all*

I'm shocked no one has commented on this one yet!
Even though this episode is not all out with the boys, it is very clear how helpful for Greg that Nick is there and on his side.
I actually seem to recall if it's not in this episode, then a later one that Greg thanks Nick and Warrick for helping to back him up at the trail.
And lots of THE LOVE in one episode is very nice to watch, there are episodes like this one that show even little doses are good enough.

I'm really not surprised that no one has commented. And I agree that even little doses of the guys is good.

Well, it is the holidays, so LJ overall is kind of quiet, so I'm glad this post didn't get lost on you;) I think the thank you to Nick and Warrick is another episode, although in this one they do make the extra effort to find out exactly what Greg's pov was on the night of the violence and there are a couple of very significant/subtexty conversations (concerning Greg) while they work on the case. But I decided to focus on the court scene, with 'just' Nick and Greg.
I usually only need a tiny bit of contact between the two of them to see the love ;-)
