Classic Episode Discussion: S1Ep22

S1Ep22 Evaluation Day
This episode got a lot of votes in our Search for the Favorite Nick/Greg Moment and ended up as one of the four finalists for Season 1! We suspect it's popular because of a significant scene at the end when Grissom and Nick talk about Greg, but the main scene between our guys is worthy of speculating too. How can you not see subtext when two men are discussing nuts? :-D

GREG: Squirrels love 'em... they get tossed at Dodger stadium and they make a hell of a butter.

NICK: (nods) Yeah, he did.

And then TPTB give us one long take of all the emotions on Nick's face... Let's enjoy these in silence, okay?

Grissom is so very subtle, isn't he? He's all but shoving Nick in Greg's direction: Go and ask him out, you oaf.

P.S. That last scene reminded us of S2Ep11, when TPTB gave us another seemingly irrelevant Nick/Greg moment and Nick looked in on Greg without any reference to the case. You think they were trying to tell us something?

I hadn't watched that last scene in ages and IT'S SO ADORABLE and random. I love it.

I love Nick's smile in the last pictures. And I always thought that last scene with Grissom was a subtle hint for Nick to GET A MOVE ON!

I remembered that last scene because it was a slightly weird exchange, and now that I rewatched it again I will for ever remember it because of Nick's huge smile; HE GOT THAT HINT ALRIGHT. \o/

If he'd turned sideways even more he'd be invisible. Young Nick had the tendency to be 2D;) I do love that blue shirt on him; it's a great fit and beautiful colour.

Because of this frame by frame dissections of the scenes with Nick and Greg, whenever they showed Greg's hands, which is often, I now look at his hands in any episode I watch, just because I'm used to it. And I'm trying to see if I can guess who the person is by their hands before they show their face, like if they're doing anything with trace, because there are times when it's not the lab rats.
