A/N: I made Nick out to be something of a bastard in the piece on purpose.

 

 

Greg knows that he's not on Nick's short list of things to do. Hell, he's not even in the Top 10. He only calls when he can't get anybody else. Greg got wise to his shit a long time ago, but he 's always right there when the phone rings. Nick saves him for a rainy day.

 

When things go wrong, Greg's right there with a kind word, a shoulder to cry on, or whatever else Nick might need to get through another tough time. Greg's never been strong when it comes to Nick, and that's why Greg can't seem to tell Nick “No!” and mean it.

 

When things are fine, and Nick's feeling okay, Greg is the last person that crosses his mind. Sure, he sees him at work, but work is one thing. He doesn't see the emotions in Greg's eyes when he goes on about his latest conquest to Warrick. But you best believe that when he's going through a dry spell, Greg is on speed dial.

 

Deep down, Nick knows it's wrong, but that doesn't stop him. He knows that Greg will let him use him from now on because that's how it is between them. He knows that Greg will let this happen because he'll take whatever he can get from Nick.

 

The funny thing is that even thought Nick saves Greg for a rainy day, and they live in the middle of a desert, those rainy days sure have started happening more and more lately.....

I take it that you didn't read the A/N in the header of the story. I made Nick that way on purpose. And, since this is a "one-shot", it probably will stay there. But thank you for reading and commenting.....Jaxson;)

That last line is great. It pulls the whole piece together nicely.

I really do enjoy your slice of life one-shots.

(And if I were Greg’s friend, I’d shake him near senseless, tell him to grow a set and make himself less available no matter how much it hurts. Nick needs a swift kick in that bodacious bottom, and finding Greg unavailable might be the wake-up call he so desperately needs. I love ‘em both, but sometimes they just don’t know what’s good for them.)
