Soundproof
Nov. 10th, 2010 07:26 pmI finally decided to post a few of my little one shots. I figured, I've got NaNoWriMo, college, homework, and a part-time job twenty hours a week. That's more than enough to keep me from first-time-posting-anxiety. So here goes.
Soundproof, by ericakylie
Pairing: Nick/Greg
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: none, I think
Summary: Nick doesn't like the glass walls of the lab. Maybe Greg can change that...
Nick walked into the DNA lab, picking up a random tube, twirling the insides, and propped his hip on one of the tables.
“Do you mind?” Greg said, pushing himself over to the GCMS.
Nick ignored him, holding it up to the light. “Ever feel like we’re on TV?”
Greg looked around for the cameras in dread. It was not his idea to be filmed why working. Well. Not like he ever had been. But still. When he didn’t find them, he said, confused, “Uh. No? What do you mean, feel like we’re on TV?”
Nick shrugged, finally putting the test tube down next to the others. “I dunno, man… all the glass? Isn’t it weird that someone can watch us working?”
Greg stopped working and turned around to face Nick, smile wide across his face. “You think it’s weird because we can’t kiss.”
Nick blushed. “That’s not what I meant-”
“Of course not,” Greg said, going back to work just as quick. “Good thing it’s soundproof.”
“Why’s that?”
“Well. Except for Grissom and his lip-reading, no one has to know what we talk about.” Greg glanced over his shoulder, giving Nick a smile. “It look like it’s gonna be a double?”
“Nah,” Nick said, staring at the clock. “Gris sent me home. Told him I had to stop in here, check on the results, and then I’d head home. You have half an hour left?”
“Mhm,” Greg said, picking up the same test tube Nick had been playing with. “Your place or mine?”
“I’m beat, man. Three doubles before today? Gris said I’m not supposed to come in until Monday, even.”
“There’s leftover chicken at my place, then.” Greg picked up a pipette. “Wait. You’re serious? We’ve actually got two nights off together for once?”
“Really?” Nick said, perking up at the idea. “Maybe I’ll pick up a movie…”
Greg glanced back, watching Nick walk away. “Oh, and Nick?”
“Hmn?” He paused, turning back around, hand on the door.
“Love you.”
Nick’s grin was just what Greg needed to finish off his shift. “Love you, too, Greg.”
“See?” Greg said as Nick pushed open the door. “Aren’t you glad it’s soundproof?”
