Yay!  My Turn!

Hi y’all. I’m Doreen and I’m a native New Yorker.

I’ve been in the N/G fandom since about 2006, but was a lurker for most of that time.

I’m one of those people who discovered N/G fic before having seen the television show.    After reading the classics of catlover2x, geekwriter, and kennedy, I fell madly in love. From there, it was a mad search through television, iTunes, YouTube and Netflix to get myself up to speed (and I’ve seen all the eps more times than I can remember).

My favorite classic episodes are “Table Stakes” (because Greg in that headdress is too adorable), “Stalker,” “Boom”, “Who Are You” and any ep in that brings Nick to tears. (Dayum, that man is beautiful when he cries).

Favorite new ep is “Appendicitement” because Nick and Greg are so obviously a couple in that one.

I’ve written two N/G one-shots that can be found at ff.net and WMTDB, but I haven’t posted anything for a while. Hopefully I will soon post the number of unfinished stories that are sitting patiently in my computer. Beta anyone?

I’m also involved in the “Newsies” fandom and am an active member at the Refuge site. Most of the stories I’ve written until now are in that fandom, but as a slash writer, I feel limited by the ages of some characters. Writing slash for underage boys just isn’t for me. Older characters, like Nick and Greg, are definitely more slashable.

I spend way too much time creating fan art. I make banners, walls and icons, but I get the most pleasure in making manips.

My favorite author is catlover2x and I live in constant hope that she will write more N/G.

My favorite stories seem to be the favorites of many N/G lovers:

 “One Good Man” by geekwriter

“Don’t Fence Me In” by kennedy
http://wmtdb.zero-creativity.net/beautiful/ViewText.aspx?cid=752&chapter=1

“Spirit” and “A Certain Sunset” by saras_girl
http://wmtdb.zero-creativity.net/beautiful/ViewText.aspx?cid=1942&chapter=1

And pretty much anything written by catlover2x
http://catlover2x.livejournal.com/15221.html

Since the changes at WMTDB, I don’t read the works of many new writers. It was much easier to find good new fic when the site had a Most Recent setting.

 Okay – enough about me.

Now from Rustie to Rusty – Tag, [livejournal.com profile] rusty_the_train ! You’re it!

I always find it amazing when people go from fanfiction to watching the show instead of being inspired by canon to see Nick/Greg;) I was sucked into CSI right from the start (although I have to admit it was Grissom I was watching for first, in a non erotic way, mind). Obviously the classic authors in our fandom did a good job! Great story links:)

Yes, Nick is a beautiful crier, my favorite scene is when he gets a gun pointed in his face in Who Are You, because the tearing up is a very spontaneous and wonderful non-alpha male response to the situation.

Appendicitement was a great episode, but Lover's Lane is my favorite S10 eppie (at this time;)

If you don't object to waiting until I'm done with my SPN_J2 Reverse Bang project and an eventually harsh judgement, I can beta for you. (I will try to find your previous stories to get a feel for your writing;)

Hey I just wanted to say I'm new around here and i'm starting slowly by going through the tag post before i read any of the fics. I wanted to say thanks because you posted a link to One Good Man, which is one of my fav stories and I haven't been able to find it since I read it for the 3rd time. So Thank you loads, off to read again.

I'm with you both! I think "One Good Man" was one of the first stories I read as well, and it's still one of my favorites... several years later!
