This one is my favorite of the “Greg meets Nick’s family” fics. It’s a post “Grave Danger” Christmas visit to the Stokes ranch.

A wonderful fic that starts the evening of Nick’s abduction, and goes through Nick and Greg overcoming personal traumas and then on to meeting the Stokes family in Texas.

This is a one-shot in which Greg is overwhelmed by the sheer enormity of the Stokes clan and connects with one small member of the family.
*You might enjoy taking a look at the two one-shot stories that came before “Don’t Fence Me In.” They aren’t necessary to read in order to enjoy DFMI, but they sort of lead up to grand meeting of Nick and Greg as an official Stokes family couple. (I read them after DFMI and it didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the stories.):
“All He Needs” is a post “Grave Danger” fic where Ma & Pa Stokes find out the truth about their son and Greg. http://wmtdb.zero-creativity.net/beautiful/ViewText.aspx?cid=1335&chapter=1
“The Return of Old Crazy Hair” is a humorous surprise visit by Ma & Pa Stokes. It’s the first time they are seeing Nick and Greg after Nick’s rescue and recovery.

Date: 2010-03-25 01:03 pm (UTC)I’ve read it more times than I can remember. It’s one of my all-time favorites, and I make sure to read it every Christmas. It really gets me in the holiday mood.
Kennedy did a fabulous job with characterization. Whenever I think about Nick’s family, it’s these characters that come to mind.
