I loved this episode, and we did indeed get a nice amount of N/G time. They're so cute together!

And was it just me or did the CSI agent remind you of Horatio Crane from CSI:Miami. I was just waiting for him to slowly take off his sunglasses and say something painfully witty.

Oh, and I was sure that I've heard reference in a past episode about Nick saying that he loved country music... Or have I been reading too much fanfiction and everything's just blurring together?

Haha, he totally reminded me of Horatio x3 I was waiting for him to pull off the sunglasses dramatically.

And I thought there was, too - I'm thinking around season 5 somewhere it was mentioned that he liked country music. Maybe I'm wrong, but I remember it that way. Maybe it's just so canon in fanfiction that it's crossed over into the show, though.

Hahah it's true, their music tastes are so set in fanfiction it's hard to tell what's really in the show :P

But ya there is evidence of Nick saying that he likes Country Music. But I was also thinking that maybe Nick was just being a bit defensive, saying "ya I like country music, but don't stereotype me", maybe something like that. But whatever, I think they could be a bit better with continuity on the show. They suck keeping up with the little things that real fans will notice.

Ah, fanfiction. Confusing canon and fanon is what it does best.

Hadn't thought of it that way, makes more sense if that's how he meant it. :P

I know. ): And it's the little things that hold it all together. The science is cool and all, but the continuity is where the characters become interesting.

he was listening to a country song in grave digger... and I think Greg or Sara teased him about his country music enjoyment (Can't remember the episode but i do remember it was when Nick had that awful hair and mustache.)

Ya, I can picture Nick in the car singing along to country music, and I think it's from Grave Danger.

And omg, let us not speak about the horrible mustache phase *shudders*

CSI is horrible with continuity. Especially with Nick! I mean...that song in Grave Danger was pretty freaking country. Just like when they mention Nick in high school/college. First he is said to have been dependable and didn't play any sports. Then he was on the baseball team in college I believe. And then there's like two episodes stating he played football. Wow, a baseball and a football star. Maybe he really is Superman.

And don't even get me started on Greg's scars....or lack there of.

See now I knew I wasn't crazy in thinking that Nick liked country music, I was sure they'd mentioned it before. Ya, I agree, they aren't too great when it comes to continuity, especially the little things that every fan is sure to notice. And omg about Greg's scars, I know, they suck with keeping up on stuff like that. 3rd degree burns will leave some sort of a mark... ok, won't get into it now ;)

Haha, now I have an image of Nick as Superman, red underwear and all!

    Date: 2010-03-07 08:18 pm (UTC)
    From: [identity profile] itskinnetik.livejournal.com
Not only because of the burns, but all the shards of glass that went into him. *Sigh*.

Aha! That's so hot....Greg can be Spiderman!

There was an episode in season two... I think Identity Crisis where Archie and Nick are listening to the recorded tape of the "suicide" and there is a country song playing and Archie asks Nick if he knows which one it was and he recognize it immediately...

See, it's little stuff like that that would make the show much greater. If they kept up with the continuity on the little things that the fans will notice, I think it would be a much better show.

But I was thinking, and maybe Nick was just being a bit defensive, like "Hey Ray, don't stereotype me, but yes I do like Country music". But still, I think they could have done it a bit better.

Posting anonymously is absolutely not a problem as long as you don't spoil or troll;) For the new season discussion posts anonymous comments are screened though, so it may take a while for the mods to make them public.

I think y'all have a good explanation for Nick denying he loved country music. I personally wish we could have had Greg talking about music (and how he managed to make Nick forget about his past;)

This episode was great, although I could have done without the CIA case. And look! Our boys got to work a case together! I lol'ed when Nicky left Greg to placate the obssessed fangirl, especially after he had already had to rescue Cath at the hospital XD Glad they ended with Nick at the concert, I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that he liked country in canon. Somewhere.

Offhand, I don’t recall any specific cannon mention of Nick’s taste in music, but in the beginning of the first Grave Danger episode (when Nick is driving to the scene of his kidnapping) he’s listening to, and singing along with, the song “Lucky Too” by Bob Neuwirth. That sounded pretty country to me.

As far as this episode goes, I loved that there were two scenes with Nick and Greg working together (although the show was almost half over before we saw Greg).

The CIA plot was okay, but it had way too much Langston for my taste. I do understand that he is now the “official” star of the show, but more scenes with Langston usually means less screen time for Greg.

I agree with your Langston comment. I don't know....he's not a bad actor or anything, I just miss the old team. No one else is good enough for me. :)

I liked it. It didn't have too much Greg, but he and Nick are working together again! <3

Although I have to say the case they're working on is pretty stupid. Who the hell electorates someone without actually wanting to kill them?!

I enjoyed the CIA case. I could even tolerate Langston somewhat.

Once more our boys are working together. :) I really liked the Rascal Flatts case. They have such chemistry while working together, I love it. And has any one else noticed that their clothes always match each others? It's so cute. XD

The CIA case was okay, I loved seeing more of Sara. I just hated the CIA actor, and the episode would have been just fine with just the Rascal Flatts case. But it was good. :) It was nice hearing a bit more about Grissom. Leave it to him to take his wife bug searching on their honeymoon. :)

There have been some times where Greg has worn a shirt or a jacket that I am almost positive Nick has worn before, and the fact that said shirts/jackets are almost always a little big on him do nothing to make me doubt it. XD

Wow, Greg looked like a twelve year old crouching down in the hospital. He is still aging backwards, this needs to stop! Although he was very cute coming to the rescue when Catharine was being 'harrassed'.

I was surprised he wasn't there when Catharine and Nick collected the equipment. Nick was very butch, I was impressed. (I also really, REALLY liked that;)

After a lot of A-case we finally got to see the guys together again and to my amusement they matched; same outfit and same slim frame: been shopping and working out together, gentlemen? I approve:)

What I didn't approve of was the predictable case. Crazy fangirl was a -supposedly- funny touch, but it begged for more. It felt as if part of the investigation was missing because TPTB focused on the CIA case. What a waste of Alan Ruck as the potentially interesting manager.
I know Will Patton is a bigger name and he sure got his share of the screentime (obviously channeling Jim Carrey's impression of that CSI-Miami dude;) but with the limited attention for the secundary case, they might as well not have bothered showing it at all.

I guess they needed the musical episode for the soundtrack and I really wished Greg could have been there at the end; he would have been able to give his opinion on the band and explain how he was responsible for Nick totally forgetting about his love for country music. What the hell, continuity?

I will probably like it better on a second viewing, when I don't have to anticipate whether Nick and Greg will be working at all and I can simply enjoy their time together;)

But I prefer to see them on the A-case next time, okay?

Why must Ray be so annoying and so "I'm so much better than you" in every episode? He gets on my nerves.

Is it bad that every episode I plot how they could kill him off?

I agree. I used to like him at first, but now it seems like he's trying too much to be like Grissom. And he needs to stop acting like he's better then everyone else, like you said. He's only been a CSI for like a year, while everyone else aside from Greg has been one for 10+.

And I have deep suspicions that he's the Dr. Jekyll killer, but we won't go there.

Yeah, he definitely is trying to be like Grissom, which just doesn't sit well with me.

And I'm really glad I'm not the only one who thinks that he could be the Dr. Jekyll killer.

This episode had me confused as to what my feeling were. Nick was finally not looking old again, which was a nice change, and there was a lot of great interaction with our boys, but the acting was pretty bad, especially with the Rascal Flatts guys. Also, as I really don't like Ray (OMG do any of you speak German? Did you cringe when he started speaking? That was painful) I really didn't see the point of the CIA case, as the CSI's really didn't do anything in it. And if Sara is in so many episodes why isn't she a regular cast member anymore?

Anyway, as to the topic at hand, the boys were great in this episode, and that part I loved.

I speak and understand German and that was one of the few thing Ray did right; for an American that was actually pretty good. At least the bit when he was talking to the Germans; the reading of the back of the watch? Not so much.

I suspected the band were probably well known, but I had never heard of them. I'm not generally a fan when tv-series serve as a showcase for any kind of celebrity. The acting was indeed limited, but so was the handling of the storyline.

But lets get back on topic: Nick was being tough guy, Greg was adorable and they both looked good, which was a true comfort in between the mediocre handling of the cases;)

    Date: 2010-03-07 08:45 pm (UTC)
    From: [identity profile] itskinnetik.livejournal.com
I didn't mind the band's acting, but maybe I'm just biased because they are one of my favorite country bands. For their first acting role, it wasn't too horrible. I did love the guy's little rap at the end. XD

But yes, I agree. Our boy's adorableness was indeed a true comfort.
