Tag: you're it!
Aug. 23rd, 2009 11:20 amHello everyone,
These past few weeks we noticed a lot of posts that are not being properly tagged, so we thought we'd post a reminder of our rules on the subject. Not only do tags make it easier to find all the stories of your favorite authors, they are also a convenient way to check up on important information (modposts!*g*) or for instancehelp others find fics (fic-search)
We kindly ask you to check your own posts and adjust them where needed. You can find all the available tags here.
Tagging rules:
Use only 2 or 3 tags on your post:
Tag with your username (All members can add new tags, so new authors can make a tag with their own name.) For fiction: only tag if it’s a multi-chapter. Tag with fic: title. There is no need for a tag if it’s a one shot as fiction is this community's default. For art or other posts: check our taglist for the appropriate tag! Please do not add miscellaneous tags! For fics add a rating tag. You can use whatever rating system you wish in your heading, but the tag should comply with the familiar movie rating system*.
Examples:
A multichapter from me would be tagged: nickngregmod, fic: roundrobin, pg-13
And a one-shot story would look like: nickngregmod, r
Artwork could look like: nickngregmod, icons
*We found an nc-13 tag, this is a non-existent rating! We have changed these posts to nc 17. The old nc-17 tag reached its limit (a 1.000 posts!) so we ask you to use the nc 17 -with a space- for new adult rated fics:)
Please ask if you have any questions on this or any other subject!
The Mods,

Date: 2009-08-24 09:10 pm (UTC)For instance: I gave your request for death-fics a "fic search" tag. (If you ever are in need for fic, you can check that tag and see if someone maybe already suggested what you are looking for in older posts;)
If you really can't find a fitting tag, it is possible for members to create their own, but we like to keep it as general and recognizable as possible. Every once in a while the mods clean out the tags and you'll be amazed with what we find;)

Date: 2009-08-27 07:41 pm (UTC)I've only just started to do the cleaning this year, my main concern now is to get rid of non-descriptive and confusing tags. That will take some time, since I have to check every post that comes with it. Maybe (Hopefully!) after I'm done it's already easier to find what you are looking for.
When I'm done preparing I may put up a post to ask for the opinion of all members of the community as to find out if there are any other issues we should be aware of.
Thanks for your suggestion!
