Hi! I don't really have any particular fic in mind, here, but I'm just looking for reaaally long, realllly good fic. :) I've already read Maggs' stuff, and most of the "big name" stuff, so I'm kind of looking for "underrated" fic, I suppose. Not necessarily though, because I'm sure there's TONS of stuff by the "big" authors in this fandom I haven't read, but I'm only saying that to weed out the stuff that I've already read (but is still awesome nonetheless).

Anyway! I'm looking for pretty much two genres here, angst and/or humor. Lengthy oneshots are cool, though I'm looking more for a long chaptered thing. Completed would be awesome but WIP's are game too. Beyond that, pretty much anything goes. I'm really not too picky with what I read, so long as it's readable.

Thanks!

hi!

I just read this one and found it awesome! http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=165&i=1 It's called One Good Man

My favorite ever is When All is Said and Done http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=4442 but you have probably already read it...

I suppose that you know QueenOfTheUniverse too...
You have embracing-shadows who makes very good one-shots. She also wrote this multi http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4628053/1/Roommates

I really like this series of one-shots http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4450548/1/Kissing_You

These are AU but very good http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3555514/1/Forcing_Seperation and http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3717845/1/Last_Dance

Have you checked out the link to the Reclists in the sidebar? There you find people's favorites by theme. Click! (http://community.livejournal.com/nickngreg/tag/reclist).
Although if you're not picky, you could just work your way through the archives in What Makes The Desert Beautiful (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/authors.php?action=list). You could even do a search for 'angst' if you so wish.

I changed your tag to fic-search instead of fic-rec, since that is reserved for posts with links to stories.

:)

Can I be so blunt as to rec my own stories?
I have a few that I know people have liked:
Pieces of Memory (http://bflyw.livejournal.com/193243.html) and the sequel Reinvention (http://bflyw.livejournal.com/270748.html), Tomorrow might find me at last (http://bflyw.livejournal.com/177678.html), Daily Survival Kit (http://bflyw.livejournal.com/64270.html)
and Tell Me The Truth (http://bflyw.livejournal.com/115037.html)

-You said you've already read the 'big name' authors, so I'm assuming you've read Catlover2x's stuff?

The angstiest:
-WitchGirl's 'Learn to Be Still', 'Hiding in the Rye,' 'Icarus Drowning' and 'Into that Goodnight'. 'Salam' is a Nick/Greg friendship story by her that is also amazing.
-I loved 'The Sky at Night' by LaughableBlackStorm. It is quite possibly the best angst I've ever read. That said, there is a catch to the Nick/Greg.
-Sara's Girl's 'When You Were Mine'. In general, Sara's Girl writes some of the best emotional/relationship angst and the best fluffy humor, though her stories aren't generally long.
-'Hard Lessons' by Fvhardy (definitely angsty)

Humor:
-'Domestic Chores' by HappensToBeMe

If we're allowed to rec our own stories, I have one that is about 165k words at the moment and will be finished in the next few weeks (30 chapters up with only 2-4 to go). It's definitely angst, with quite a bit of mystery and suspense as well. I don't think it's been rec'ed here, but it's gotten a lot of positive responses on FFnet (314 reviews over there).

Hi, I would definitley agree with [livejournal.com profile] happy_harper13's rec from [livejournal.com profile] saras_girl's fics.... I am quite an angst whore myself.... I've been around for almost, gosh five years now... I made my own rec list several years ago after being asked about rec's several time... They are at my LJ site so I will post a link. I haven't been around lately, but I'm back.. I am the owner/administrator over at WMTDB (wwww.nickandgreg.com). Like I mentioned, I'm a true angst whore, plus I love long stories... but here's a list of my favorite recs of all Shacky 20's Rec List (http://shacky20.livejournal.com/60437.html) All the link currently work until our site at WMTDB is all converted, except for [livejournal.com profile] carolinecrane's fics..but for angst, I would definitley rec "All the Way to Paris", the link doesn't work but I do have it on my computer....

Serenity fics, "Because I Want You" and it's sequel "The Everlasting" are long and angsty... Any fic on that list I would personally rec.... [livejournal.com profile] clockstopper "Nick Stokes Lab Rat" is incredible..... and I really try not to rec my own fic... but Lying in the Bed I Made (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=669) is quite angsty and truly heart felt... along with A Different Kind of Pain (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=1153z), which I actually made a video to as a prequel is quite angsty and smutty as well. I will be updating my rec list soon, it's been way to long since I've done it.... I hope this helped a little...

I'm agreeing with a few of the people above. People in this fandom will recommend One Good Man until the end of time. I still think it's the best N&G fic of all time. All The Way To Paris is also high up on that list. Oh man, so going to read right now...

I can definitely rec [livejournal.com profile] kennedy_unknown's Don't fence me in (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=1792) , which has 34 chapters and is a sequel to Return of the cray hair (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=3760)
In general all his fics are quite angsty and verys good, so that is always worth reading.
That also goes for anmani (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewuser.php?uid=225) who is a huge writer for angst.

And since it has been done by several others before as well I am going to be that blunt as well and rec one of my own as well =)
Coming out to your parents ala Nick Stokes and Greg Sanders (http://www.nickandgreg.com/desert_archive/viewstory.php?sid=2289). It is humor, so the oposite from my above recs =)
Happy reading .. =)
