Best wishes and update on Round Robin
Jan. 5th, 2009 10:18 pmHello everyone,
Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are looking forward to the continuation of the new season of CSI. The mods are working on ideas for this community in 2009, if you have any suggestions, you are welcome to mail us or leave a comment to this post. What do you want to do with Nick & Greg? *g*
I noticed there have been a lot of stories posted in the past week by old and new writers: thanks for keeping the community alive, all of you!
A couple of authors have been working together on a Round Robin, maybe you have followed it from the start or are waiting for all the parts to be posted. Due to heavy weather in the real world, there has been a delay in posting the final part, but rest assured: it will be posted on Sunday January 11.
If you haven't read the Round Robin yet, now is your chance to join in! Links to the previous chapters are at the bottom of this post.
I'd like to encourage you to check out ALL the stories that have been posted recently. You can find them in the sidebar. Older posts can easily be browsed through tags and the calender: there is enough fanfiction available to have hours of fun (days even!)
And if you enjoy a story don't be afraid to let the author know; even a simple smile can make someone's day. (The same goes for creators of artwork;)
Let's spread the love!
J.

Date: 2009-01-10 12:46 pm (UTC)We have talked about making a list in the past and found that since there are so many different people with different tastes in this fandom it's impossible to decide on 'the best over-all fics'. Writers that I admire and love are not so much favorites of others - for whatever reason. And while it's possibly true there are a few 'old' authors/stories that made an impact on fandom in the early days, we want to stay away from pimping certain people, because it usually leads to others feeling left out or disagreeing. And that will eventually turn the recs once again into an ever-growing list, which is where we are now with the archives and the community mentioned above;)
I personally learned that stories these days tend to focus more on kinks than on canon. Maybe we can make a list of favorites in either one of those or other categories? I'll see if I can make a mod-post later this month to find out what the community's feel is.
I agree that both archives are overwhelming, so I definitely would love to do something to make sure people don't miss out:)
