Title: Nevada Snow
Rating: PG
Pairing: N/G obviously :]
Summary: It snows in Nevada.
A/N: read and enjoy! comments are greatly appreciated

It was rare for Nevada to see snow; even a single fleck. Even when the temperature in the winter dropped below freezing, snow never came.

So now it was a surprise. Greg had just left the back exit of the lab and walked straight into a flurry of snow and wind. He almost dropped his backpack and car keys in his shock. But he regained some sense of sanity and dug around for his cell phone to call Nick. He punched in the all too familiar number and waited impatiently for Nick to answer. When he finally did, Greg breathed out one word, "Snow!"

Nick was confused by Greg's call and promptly asked Greg to explain. "It's snowing! Look out your window! We have snow!" Greg was so excited that Nick had to laugh. "I'll be home in a few minutes! We can enjoy the snow together!" He sounded like such a little kid, but he didn't care as he hung up on Nick and proceeded to skip to his car, whistling a Christmas tune. He threw his things into the back seat, climbed in the driver's seat and sped out of the parking lot.

Once parked in the garage, Greg hurried into the house only to run into Nick, already dressed in his winter coat and boots, scarves and gloves. Greg grinned and with a peck Nick's cheek, ran to their bedroom to change into some warmer attire. He hurried back to Nick, who was waiting at the door, and grinned. He opened the door and was met with a gust of cold air and snow hitting him in the face. Nick gently shoved him out into the cold and Greg sent a plaful glare over his shoulder.

Nick shivered as the freezing air enveloped him. They were so used to the heat that the sudden snow worthy temperature didn't feel so good. Greg skipped around him, arm spread out wide and his head upturned, mouth wide open with his tongue poked out to catch the snowflakes. Nick laughed and kicked at the puffy white substance, watching it scatter and have more cover up the bare spot as it fell from the sky. Greg's hand wrapped around his wrist and he was being pulled farther into the yard. He spun and started laughing at Greg's appearance: shivering, grinning, and covered in white flakes.

"What's so funny, Stokes?" Greg asked, still grinning.

"You, Sanders."

"Really now?" Greg bent over and grabbed a handful of snow and balled it up into a hard mass. Nick's eyes widened and he backed up towards the sidewalk.

"G, don't even do it." he warned, still backing up even as Greg moved forwards. Greg threw his arm back and launched the snow ball at Nick. It hit nick square in the chest and he jumped. "This is war." he grinned and bent over to grab his own handful of snow as Greg gathered up some more, too.

The war began with a few snowballs pelted rapid fire at Greg's body. He ran and hid behind a tree, squealing like a little girl and making Nick double over in laughter. Greg takes that chance to gather up more snow and chuck it at Nick's bent over form, sending him to the ground. Nick's shocked expression is enough to make Greg poke his tongue out and then run for cover again as Nick scrambles to his feet and begins to chase him with more snow. Greg jumps behind the trash can at the end of the driveway, laughing as snow hits the hard plastic. He peeked over the top of the can and instantly regretted it as a round ball of snow hit him in the face.

"Ah, shit! That's cold!" he shouts and runs out to get Nick. Nick laughs and jogs back to the yard, intent on getting inside. Greg runs a little fast though, and soon they both find themselves falling and hitting the snow covered ground. Greg's body slid a little with the momentum and Nick was lost in uncontrollable laughter, his face plastered in the wet, cold snow. Greg sat up and shook himself before crawling over to Nick, who's still laughing, and sat Indian style beside him. Nick finally stopped laughing and sat up, too.

"It's so pretty." Greg breathes out in awe. Nick followes Greg's gaze to the night sky and stares in wonder and amazement. With only a couple of streetlights on, just about all the stars are visible in the sky. There's no grey snowclouds, just flecks of white snow and an endless black, spotted with the bright specks of light.

"Wow." Nick sighs, leaning back on his hands, his legs crossed out in front of him. Greg drops his gaze from the sky to Nick and smiles softly. He leans over, a hand on Nick's neck, and draws him in for a kiss. Nick's taken by surprise for a second, before bringing a hand to Greg's arm and pulling him closer. Greg's soon sitting in Nick's lap, shivering violently at the sudden warmth of another's body after sitting in snow for a good few minutes. Nick pulls away, concern creasing his brow. "We should go inside. You're shivering."

"I'm fine. Maybe if you would kiss me some more I wouldn't be so cold, now would I?" Greg smirked and Nick rolled his eyes. He opened his mouth to say something, but Greg cut him off, "Shut up and kiss me."

He didn't care how cheesy-romantic it sounded or how stupid, but Greg just wanted Nick to kiss him. At the moment it was his body heater, the only thing keeping him from freezing. But if he had the choice of dying a painful death or death by freezing, he'd choose the latter because he'd be with Nick. But he didn't want to think about that as Nick started a burning path along his neck. This time the shivering wasn't from the cold. Nick suddenly, but gently, pushed Greg off his lap and stood up, grabbing Greg's hand and pulling him to his feet. Greg followed him inside without complaint.

Greg rid himself of his coat, shoes, scarf and gloves, watching Nick as he did the same. Nick went into the living room and turned on the fireplace, then settled on the couch. Greg came in a few seconds later and fell down next to him, instantly letting his head fall to rest on Nick's shoulder. Nick grabbed the remote and turned the TV on, turning the volume down until they could barely hear it. Greg placed a kiss on Nick's neck, just below his ear, and Nick shivered slightly. "I love you." he breathed out, content at where he was and who he was with. Nick grinned and Greg swore he could see the brightness light up the room.

"Mm. Love you, too." Nick muttered. Before he could fall asleep, he grabbed the thick blanket off the back of the couch and covered them both with it. Greg's breathing soon evened out and Nick glanced at his face. His eyes were closed, lips parted. His eyelashes rested against his cheeks, the glow from the fire and television screen making them seem impossibly longer. A lock of unkempt hair had fallen across his left eye and Nick couldn't resist reaching up and pushing it back. Greg moved against Nick's body, moved into his body, and Nick found himself with a lapful of Greg as the younger man stretched out. Nick smiled and settled against the back of the couch with a heavy, content sigh.

He hoped this year brought snow more often.
