Yes I know, you will be totally annoeyed by Mod Posts, and will probably complain about me spamming your flist, but there is a reason for that post *as usual*
It seems that tagging seems to be a problem here, since some people decide on either not tagging at all, tagging things that are actually not really relevant or helpful or like to tag their fics wrong.
There was for example a fic with just one tag. And that tag was 'fic'. That is a nice tag, but not really helpful. For anyone who rolls this eyes now... imagine the following situation:
Author 'Heidi Klum' writes the fic 'Naomi hates me' with the rating 'NC-17' *for violence =)*. You read that fic and move on. A few weeks later you remember that fic and want to read it again. But...oh damn, you didn't bookmark it, didn't print it, save it or put it in your memories. You know the author's name, rating and title, but none was used as a tag, and it doesn't show up in the subject line. SO what do you do? Okay you can go to
nick_greg and hope that people there have bookmarked it, or something like that, or go through the calender and through each and every post from that author until you finally find it. But wouldn't it be way faster if you just click on the tag list, on one tag and than you have it? And that's why we (love to) tag(s). =)
Just always think about that situation: you are the fan, love afic to pieces but have no chance to find it.
So....what has to be tagged how? *using the exmple with 'Heidi'*
Tags for her would be: Heidi Klum, fic: Naomi hates me, nc-17
Nothing more, just your name, the fic title, with 'fic:' and the rating.
What tags are NOT to use:
- Chapter titles or numbers * chapters will show automatically when clicking on the fic title - but you still can write a chapter number or title in the subject line of your post*
- Challenges, or Challenge titles *since we don't do challenges we don't need that tag*
- Pairings
- 'nickngreg' etc.
Note: I found out that it really is possible to write one rating in 5 different ways. The correct way of writing for 'NC-17' and 'PG-13' is with a '-' between letters and number. And please leave a space between 'fic:' and the title, cause otherwise people have a harder time finding the tag for your fic, since it will be listed the following: 'Fic: A lovers tree' will stand in front of 'Fic:A blond angle' althoug 'b' would actually come before 'L'. And the fic will actually move to the end of the 'fic:' tag, so it wil come way after 'fic: Xenos' and the tags between 'a' and 'x' are many.
Thank you for your coperation, I try to leave you alone for a week or so =)
Oh and just a little note: Maybe people should try to avoid posting fics over at
nick_greg, since that comm has nothing to do with that any longer. Just exists to help people finding fics, talking about stuff, getting a beta, etc. but no fic posts. Thank you
