Title: Greg's Undies
Author: Bry
Fandom and Pairing: CSI; Nick/Greg
Rating: PG-13
Claim & Prompt: baby; sight. ([livejournal.com profile] wordclaim50)
Notes: I fell in love with this idea a little while ago, and in keeping with the "Greg's Jammies" theme, it was thusly named "Greg's Undies" and has some similar content for you to look forward to as well. It's kind of a light thing, mostly dialogue, but I hope you'll enjoy it. I wasn't sure about sharing this here, but I've found that this is pretty much the only way people will see it. If you don't like Greg this way, please spare me, but if you feel you've got a mind open enough to appreciate it (such as with "Greg's Jammies") then please feel free to share your thoughts.
Summary: They weren't supposed to see.

“So I guess you’re not comin’ back out any time soon, huh?” Nick asked with lighthearted sympathy.

Greg didn’t even bother to look up from his placement upon the locker room’s bench. “I think they’ve seen enough of me already.”

“I still don’t get it, man, how did this happen?”

“I don’t know,” Greg quietly replied, clearly disheartened. “Somehow the leg of my pants got caught, and then they were gone.”

“You’re lucky it didn’t take your leg right along with ‘em.”

“Yeah...”

“And you were wearin’, what, little kid undies?”

Greg groaned painfully. “I was out of clean underwear and they were just...” He sighed. “Nobody was supposed to see them.”

“Greg, you know things can happen. And that’s why I never go commando.”

“I didn’t know going pant-less was in the job description.”

“Yeah, well...it’s really not that bad, G.”

“They all laughed at me, Nick. Even Grissom.”

“Wow, you got Grissom to laugh? He’s always been amused by you but...man, that’s an accomplishment.”

Instead of acknowledging the ‘positive’ in Nick’s supportive point, Greg’s expression only sobered. “I want him to laugh at my jokes, not me. I’m a CSI now. I’m supposed to be taken at least relatively seriously. They’re not supposed to see me like this, not in this way. ”

“Yeah, but CSI’s don’t really wear...”

Greg seemed instantly wounded, and the tears that begged to surface since the dawn of his humiliation finally glossed over his eyes.

“But they could. I mean.”

"I just…I was trying so hard just to be competent, ya know? And now I’m ever-the-little-kid again.”

“If they thought you were still just some novice kid, they'da all pretended it didn't happen. But you're one of us, now—they expect you can handle some good-natured ribbing. You don’t think the same thing woulda happened if I’d been wearin’ those things? You took the risk by wearin’ ‘em to work, G.”

“I just wasn’t going to change my pants today. But then I lost them, and my shirt was too short and I couldn’t hide anything...”

“Greg, you let things go all the time. Make the best of it; turn it into a joke or something. Laugh along with them.”

"No I don't. Everyone just expects me to. It's not funny. It's humiliating."

"Look—you are still the baby compared to all of us. But you've always indulged in being boyish—in being the kid—so take advantage of it. The girls all think it's cute. Heck, work up some tears and they'll want to take care of you. I mean, just play with it. The type of underwear you're wearin' has nothing to do with your skill level. Treat it like that. Yeah, so now you have one more aspect of yourself that people don't 'get'. Big deal. So long as you don't think it defines you or your ability to do your job, then neither will they.”

Greg’s gaze remained downcast, a moment of quiet thought allowing him to soften with slight acceptance. “I still don’t want to go back out there. If you already knew, then so does the whole lab.”

“You just gotta take it in stride, man. First time I took you out in the field and you froze up—everyone was talking about it. Yeah, you were a little sensitive, but you had plenty of opportunities afterward to prove yourself again. Maybe next time you can, like, wear one of those novelty T-shirts with ‘Huggies’ on it or something. Make it normal, so it’s not something out of the ordinary to gossip about.”

“I have one of those.”

“What?”

“Those T-shirts. They’ve got red text with red hems around the collar and sleeves. I have a few of them, actually. Pampers, too.”

Nick’s brow furrowed. “Really.”

“It’s not just about my underwear, Nick. It’s a lifestyle inadvertently revealed.”

“You mean you...”

“I used to be open about it when I was in college. I didn’t care who knew. I’d wear a pacifier around my neck, do my hair up, wear my earrings, show off my navel, clutch a teddy bear, and my friends got a kick out of it. Everyone thought I was just another raver kid.”

“Huh.”

“Hey, you said to indulge in it. Now I’m telling you.”

“I know. I’m just...absorbing,” Nick replied with open honesty. “So those undies...you didn’t just ‘happen’ to have them.”

“Custom order. I have a few other pairs, too. But I’ve never worn them to work. Not before getting out into the field, anyway. They really were all that I had left.”

“Mm hmm. What’s on them, exactly? Are they really just like the stuff you get for kids?”

“Pretty much, yeah. Colored waist and leg bands, prints and everything.”

“Hm.” Nick’s eyes darted briefly to Greg’s sweatpants-covered crotch, and then back up again.

Greg’s face lit up. “You want to see them, don’t you?”

“I don’t want to, but I’m...curious.”

Greg stood, tucking his thumbs into the waistband. “Okay, but you have to promise not to tell anybody—about any of this—alright?”

Nick bent slightly in his anticipation. “Promise.”

Greg took a breath before pushing the front of his pants down, then lifting the lower edge of his shirt up.

Nick seemed to leer even more closely, asking, “What are those, puppies? Flying kites?”

“They’re sleeping teddy bears with moons and stars.”

“Oh.” Without the slightest bit of modesty, Nick tucked a couple fingers inside the waistband to bring it closer, and ran his thumb along the fabric. “This is cotton, right?”

“Yeah.”

Nick glanced up, still bent and dangerously close to Greg’s crotch. “They comfortable?”

Just as Greg’s pleased smirk parted to reply, Sara’s presence cut him off.

“I should come back later,” she announced, before swiftly disappearing.

“Just as I'm feeling better, things get worse.”

Nick stood up, wincing. "Yeah…"

“Guess you don’t want to go back out anytime soon, huh?”

Nick huffed a laugh. “Not really.”

I know someone is probably going to freak out about this, but I love it. :) It's just so Greg. Plus too cute, I wish I could of been Sara.

Oh! This was ador-K-able! The..."lifestyle" (as stated here) isn't something I get, but it's still pretty cute. And those types of underwear are probably more popular than you may think because there's this company called "Ginch Gonch" and that type of underwear are their main deal.

Hot holy hell, woman! This doesn't sound like an established relationship, which makes Nick's fingers under Greg's waistband all the better. And at work. With an audience. Oh, to be able to see Sara's thoughts...

Can you write more to this story????

Hey, i think ageplayers get a bad rap. Whatever works for them, is cool by me. Hell, i'm sure people aren't that down with a lot of the things that i get into. *shrugs*

That being said... i thought that this was adorable. Greg can work that kink, and i think he'd be sweet in a navel baring shirt. :) Very nice and cute!

Well, I say, if Cameron Diaz can wear them in Charlie's Angels and make it hot, Greg can too. Of course, Greg is far cuter than Cameron.

I got the feeling that Nick's interest was a little more than just simple curiosity. And had Sara not interrupted, Greg might have hinted in the direction as well. Which reminds me, the fundamental difference between Sara and Cath? Cath wouldn't have ran. Heh.

Please, continue. ;)

OK I guess I'm naive, I never heard the term ageplayers before, but I thought this was adorkable, cute, charming, funny and I was giggling madly. I love Nicky trying to urge the positive onto Greg and the dialog is wonderful. Also the whole situation is so believable, I close my eyes in sympathy for Greg's embarrassment and the whole dilemma. Who hasn't had something revealed in public they would really rather have kept secret. Thanks so much for sharing it! :-D

Hon, I don't think anyone who's read the Masquerade series would consider you naive... ;-)

Aww, that was great! You should do a sequel where neither of them go back out and they get up to...things ;)

Yep, saw King Baby and I figured it was something like, but seems much less disgusting. Snork! I think Greg would be cute in Spiderman underwear. :-D

I know, RL gets so in the way, but take notes! I find if I do, I can recapture the inspiration for later, but if I don't, stellar ideas slip away and I kick myself. :-D

Fiction

I just had to read your other fiction as I thought this was just freakin'cute. Although I'm completely into Nick, this really captures Greg's personality in my opinion-playful and needing some nurturing a bit more than the other characters. I would love to see some more of Nick exploring this lifestyle.

I also must say that "Darling Little Deviants" was just great all around-you captured all of the CSI characters very well. Of course, I had to completely laugh out loud at Warrick!! Keep up the good work, and I look forward to reading more of this...:)

Hey-I'm very impressed that you responded to me, this is "Anonymous." I forgot to add that I thought that this particular fiction would be really fun to watch as a segment of CSI-Other Stories (What a lot of the writers of fan fiction create-I just made that series up). I work in the film industry, and have only recently been reading all of the fan-fiction, as I've become very enamored of CSI. There are a LOT of talented writers out there, and although I've worked on episodic TV (it's not my main medium) the "Darling Little Deviants" was just so well written, that I could see it in my head as a viable live-action story. I do not and have not worked on "CSI," I am not a writer, nor am I anyone with any "Hollywood" power. I do believe that you should continue writing, so, again I look forward to reading more. Thanks-:)
