A/N: Finally managed to write some Nick/Greg again, a big thank you to those of you that assured me that my writing doesn't suck. And one of these days I'll believe that. I hope. *g*
Catherine doesn’t seem to be able to stop talking, explaining a new procedure as if she invented it herself. Sara and Warrick seem fascinated, listening intently and nodding every now and again. Greg stifles a yawn as he pretends to listen. Not that it matters, because they never expect him to contribute, unless there’s an opportunity for a joke, of course.
He starts fidgeting with his napkin, shooting a look of warning at Nick when he returns to the table. He has to fight the urge to roll his eyes as Catherine starts all over again. Greg’s thoughts start to drift off, stopped only by a hand settling itself on his knee and his head shoots up, just in time to catch the surprised looks on his colleagues faces as Nick says, “I know, Greg explained it to me last night.”
There’s silence. Looks of surprise all around that are pretty damn close to insulting.And they’re waiting, waiting for him to say something, some joke that will make them feel less uncomfortable. But that familiar hand is still there, and he covers it with his own, lacing their fingers together and Greg says nothing, just smiles.
