Wanna play a game...?
Nov. 27th, 2005 11:23 pmI don't know if you've seen this in other fandoms/communities, but many people play a variation on the "name that episode" quote game. But instead of quoting from an episode of a show, they quote from fanfic. I thought it would be fun to play a few rounds together, if anyone is interested.
Basically, I'll start out with three quotes that I enjoy from various N/G stories. If you recognize one or more of the quotes, respond with the name (and links) to the fics, then list quotes of your own. If two people respond at the same time, it doesn't matter, since just sifting through your saved fics and discovering new recs and rereading favorite passages is the point of the game anyway. It doesn't matter how long the quote is, but it shouldn't be too obscure, like, "Hey, Greg," Nick said. It's okay to answer for your own fic too, of course. Consider that like a freebie.
What do you think? Any fun? You can respond straight to this post to avoid clogging the comm and stuff, because that would be sad.
1. No hello, no 'fancy meeting you here', just straight to the point. But Nick doesn't look pissed – he doesn’t even really look all that disturbed by the fact that Greg's turned into a stalker. Alarms are going off in his head but he can't focus on them, can't focus on much of anything other than Nick's body heat and the hand still firmly wrapped around his forearm.
2. After clearing his throat a few times, he manages a weak hello and Greg's grinning that wolfish grin, and Nick silently wonders how long it'll take Greg to notice he gets completely hard every time he sees it. Just then, Sara comes back, smile getting bigger when she sees Greg. She hands him a beer that Nick can only imagine was originally for him, but suddenly it doesn't matter anymore, because Greg's lips are on the edge of the cup and he's all Nick sees; pale expanse of his neck smooth in the soft light from the stage.
3. Morning again. I’m sure you’re brushing your teeth now, looking all sexy and rumply, hair sticking every which way, like just after we’ve…mmm, but I should be going soon. I don’t have time to write all that down, and I don’t wanna wake you up for just a quickie. Although, I love your quickies…Oh, I just wanted to say, have a good day at work. I’ll see you soon.
Any takers?
