Title: Secrets 2
Challenge: #1- Scars
Rating: PG
Warnings/Spoilers: Grave Danger, 1 swear word
Summary: Scars aren't always visible
A/N: This is a follow-up to my Greg scars challenge ficlet. My wonderful beta [livejournal.com profile] catloverx2 asked if Nick had any thoughts on this and it tuned out that he did. So [livejournal.com profile] catloverx2 this is for you. It's un-beta'd, so please forgive any incoherence. X-posted at [livejournal.com profile] ngchallenge

Nick knew about scars, you got them from playing football, kidding about with your brother or being buried in a box with fire ants crawling all over you, biting you wherever they could.

What he hadn't known was that you could get them when people ignored you. And that they hurt, they hurt more than he ever imagined something intangible could.

He knew that being buried in the prespex box had changed him, that was only to be expected. Twelve hours alone with nothing but a gun and a tape recorder was bound to fuck you up a little. Twelve hours thinking that they weren't going to find you, never knowing if you were going to see his face again, see that sparkle in his eyes when he looked at you.

Then you were found, saved as it were. And you saw his face again, but it was different somehow, almost as if his sparkle and light were gone. You couldn't believe that would ever happen to Greg, so you wrote it off as stress, imagination on your part. But, he hardly ever looks at you anymore and even when he does you know that he doesn't see you.

Oh yes, Nick Stokes knows all about scars.

That's it, I'm giving up writing and getting a job as a muse. As I understand it, muses make casual comments that mean nothing, which then inspire creative people to come up with incredible, touching, insightful, beautiful and painful stories like this. Wow, just wow! You are amazing. I love it and you can't leave this hanging.

Wow. Poor Nick. When will life deal him a break?

Beautifully written; I feel so sad for him! It's both sad and beautiful; wonderful job.

Oh, ow. And even though it's a Nick-centric piece, it kinda gives a reason for why Greg was so... withdrawn through the whole thing.

Well done, you.

Wow, I can't believe you haven't seen it yet!! Let me know when you do (or I imagine you may post about it as it WILL affect you), so we can talk, I'd love to hear your take on Greg's reactions (though I really wish they would have focused on him more, no no not obsessed at all). It was an incredible ep and just thinking about it is making me antsy for the next season to start here, another month I believe.
