Everything 1/1
Everywhere Greg looked, something reminded him of Nick.
He was sitting on the bed in a room he was still getting used to. Greg’s hands idly played with the silver bracelet around his left wrist. It had been a gift from Nick, on their first anniversary. Funny thing was, Greg had inadvertently gotten Nick the exact same thing. He laughed a little as he remembered the moment when they realized what they’d done.
Unclasping the bracelet, Greg set it down on the bedside table. He stood up, stretched, and wandered over to the closet. Rifling through the shirts, he pulled out a faded blue tee that Nick had given to him ages ago. He held it tight, sniffed it. It smelled like the Texan. Greg was hit with a sudden rush of memories.
Even the little details in the room, like the take-out menus they had used for a quick dinner so many times, just screamed Nick. And the TV, on mute, was playing one of Nick’s favorite forensic documentaries. Hell, even the red pillows mocked his loneliness. Red was Nick’s favorite color.
He looked down at the phone and picked it up, contemplated calling. Greg wanted to hear Nick’s voice. He started dialing the familiar number, but stopped and set it back down. Now wouldn’t be a good time.
Greg looked around the hotel room and smiled. There was only one day left of the conference, and Nick was waiting for him back home.
A/N: I hope this had the effect that I was trying to create! *big grin*
