Title: Untitled.
Challenge: #1-Scars-ngchallenge
Rating: Pg
Warnings/Spoilers: Playing with Fire.
Summary: Greg has a (small) breakdown and Nick talks about the stars.
"Here's your food. Hamburger with fries and extra pickles for the lady, Fetticcine Alfredo for the Texan, two of the Calamari, and the Souffle Flambe for you."
I hear a lighter and look up from my noddles at Greg. His eyes are wide with memories and fear.
"Greg, Greg, Are you ok?"
There is fear and love coursing through my voice.
Grissom looks smug, everyone else likes stunned.
Greg's lip trembles, his hands shake, but he sits still.
"Greg? Greg, let's go outside, ok? Come on..."
I grab him by the elbow and gently lead him out the door.
The moment Greg steps outside he collapses in my arms.
"I'm sorry" Greg sniffled. "I know it's stupid to still be upset over such an old memory, but-"
"Greg, you don't have to explain."
I run my hand over his jaw, tucking a stray lock of hair behind his ear.
"Greg, look at the stars. See all of those, most of those stars aren't even burning now."
"Nick, I'm not a star."
"Oh, shush. I'm trying to make a point. Your memories and scars are like a star, though the fire is not burning anymore, you'll still see it. As will other people."
Greg chuckled.
"They'll see the fire?"
"They'll see your strength, your will and your beauty."
I kiss him softly as the older restaurant paterns glare.
"Now," I say opening the door. "let go back inside before our meals get cold."
"Cold?" Greg asked laughing as he stepped around me. "Mine's probably still smoking!"
Smiling I let the doors shut silently behind us.
First N/G fic ever please be kind. :)
