Classic Episode Discussion: S2Ep15
Mar. 1st, 2011 10:37 pmS2Ep15 Burden Of Proof
Seeing as a lot of you enjoyed going back to the early seasons last week and some of you aren't up to date with S10 yet (and there already have been discussion posts on the episodes that were nominated in the latest poll), we are once again visiting Nick and Greg in Season 2!
A scene with the whole team, but we are sure you can see why it stands out as a moment between our guys;)
01.
GREG: Kind of feels like blackjack, you know?
02.
GREG: You guys all fanned around the table,...
03.
GREG: ....holding your breath waiting to see which card I'll reveal next.
04.
[OS] WARRICK: Greg, this is an abuse case involving a minor.
GREG: Right.
05.
GREG: (To Grissom) Sorry.
06.
GREG: So, I have DNA samples from every male that lives with Jody Bradley
07.
[OS] GREG: ...full-time or weekends.
08.
GREG: First, I have Mike Kimble, the fiancé.
09.
GREG: Dead fiancé.
10.
[OS] BRASS: "Match not found." You got to be kidding me.
{We so love Greg's hands}
11.
GREG: Sorry, Captain.
12.
[OS] BRASS: The guy has naked pictures of her in his townhouse. The mother called off their wedding.
GREG: DNA takes a pair.
{He's not giving up on his blackjack analogy yet;)}
13.
[OS] CATHERINE: So, whose is it, the father?
14.
(Again, GREG holds up the results.)
GRISSOM: "Match not found."
{Did we mention how much we love Greg's hands?}
15.
GREG: Third and last.
(He pauses for effect)
16.
*NICK sighs*
17.
NICK: Give me that.
18.
(Nick grabs the results out of Greg's hands)
19.
{"Seriously, dude"}
20.
{We also love Nick's old ring}
21.
NICK: How'd we miss that?
Ahw, look how smoothly shaved they both are: such baby-faces, aren't they cute. Never mind Nick's deathglare. They are both adorable puppies:)
(Remember that scene that follows with Nick and the boy? So sweet.)

Date: 2011-03-02 08:51 pm (UTC)To me it seems that Nick is still confused about his feelings for Greg; out of everyone he's the only one moving (gravitating?) towards Greg and they catch each other's eye without talking (everybody else gives their opinion or asks questions during the presentation). At the same time Nick is the one that has the most personal angry response to Greg's antics (nothing to do with the case). I think he's a little bit worried of being too nice to Greg (for everyone to notice, maybe?) so it's easier to let himself get annoyed than to acknowledge he's amused.
Especially in the early days Nick always tried to get back to business as soon as he realised he was about to indulge in playing along with Greg:)
*blinks* Wow. Does that even make sense?

Date: 2011-05-27 02:59 pm (UTC)What I really notice about this scene in particular is the sneakiness on the part of the director:
We see Greg from over Nick's shoulder. Not Warrick's, who would be the obvious other choice, as they're the ones in the centre of the 'fan around the table'.
(I know, technically, Warrick's shoulder is in shot too, but we get the back of Nick's neck and his ear as well.) Yum. :)
I can't help but read something into that. Maybe I'm just an optimist.
