Fic: Old Married Couple
May. 27th, 2005 02:29 pmTitle: Old Married Couple
Rating: PGish
Summary: Because this was stupid, and they were acting like an old married couple, and they were years away from being an old married couple.
A/N: I didn’t have a beta go over this, so all mistakes are mine... it's just a small ficlet that hit me across the head, I hope you enjoy it! :)
Disclaimer: I don’t own CSI or any characters therein, and am making no money.
Old Married Couple
Nick walked into the break room, spotting Greg right away. Nicks shoulders tensed, but he forced himself to relax.
"Greg." He said formally, grabbing a bottle of water out of the fridge.
"Nick." Greg replied in the same tone, snacking on a pack of crackers and not really even looking away from the conversation that was going on between him and Archie. Only the conversation had dissipated the moment Nick had entered the room.
Nick sighed, shook his head and left. Really, why did Greg have to be so complicated? Greg refused to even speak to him. It was almost enough to make him want to give in, admit defeat. But no. Because this was stupid, and they were acting like an old married couple, and they were years away from being an old married couple. He could hold out longer than Greg could anyway, the man had no patience.

Nick walked into the locker room, not even pausing when he saw Greg shrugging into his jacket, pulling the collar up and tweaking his hair in the mirror.
"Headed home?" Nick asked. And Greg nodded, only giving him the minimal.
"Yup." He shut his locker with an air of calm that made Nick wince, and walked out before Nick had even entered the numbers into his combination lock.

Nick walked in to their house, hanging his keys on the hook by the door, and tossing his jacket over a near by chair. He took a deep breath before hesitantly looking for Greg, he heard him before he saw him. He was walking through the living room towards the kitchen when he saw it. A thick, neatly folding blanket along with a pillow on the couch. And hell no. He was not sleeping on the couch. He breathed out angrily and picked up his pace; glaring at Greg once he reached the kitchen.
"Dammit Greg, you're being ridiculous! I am not sleeping on the couch."
Greg only blinked at him in a manner that told him in no uncertain terms that he was, in fact, sleeping on the couch. Nick glared, took a breath and looked from the fridge to Greg and back again. Cursing under his breath he opened the door with enough force to rattle the little man holding spaghetti noodles on top. He reached in and grabbed the empty milk carton, turned and threw it forcefully into the garbage can, and then slammed the door back closed. "There! You win!"
Greg smiled victoriously, and danced over to wrap his arms around Nick's waist. He gave him a comforting peck on the lips before saying: "And what else?"
Nick rolled his eyes; "I will learn to throw empty cartons away and not put them back, so that when someone else wants some milk they get a surprise."
Greg smiled again, and kissed him before dancing his way out of the kitchen. Fuck. They were an old married couple. Greg leaned back around the door frame. "Coming?"
He disappeared again, and Nick shook his head before following him with a grin. Maybe being an old married couple wasn't all that bad after all.....
