A/N: Many, many thanks to godgaleshot.
Disclaimer: Don't own them. Just borrowed them and will put back when done.
Greg spends most of his double shift standing or walking. His feet ache. He wants nothing more than to go home and take a shower, or even better, a bath. He's about to head home when he's called to another crime scene. He's assigned to walk the perimeter. Greg knows he's tired so he goes slow, not wanting to miss anything.
After the scene is cleared Greg can finally go home. He sits in the locker room gathering himself to leave. He feels Nick's hand soothing the back of his neck.
"Are you OK to drive home?" Nick asks. Greg mumbles, "my feet hurt." Nick laughs. "I'll see you later," he replies.
Greg is really tired by the time he gets home. He sinks onto the couch and realizes he isn't going to make it to the bedroom. Greg wishes he had a blanket as he falls asleep.
Later he feels the couch shift as Nick sits down. He hears Nick's voice far away but he can't make out the words. Nick pulls Greg's feet onto his lap. Greg tries to force his eyes open but he's swimming just under the surface of sleep. He feels heavy yet simultaneously like he's floating.
He feels Nick take off his shoes. Nick gently massages Greg's feet, warming them. Greg wonders if he's dreaming as he drowns in sleep again.
When Greg wakes he's still on the couch. There's a blanket over him tucked around his feet. On the coffee table is a glass of water and a note from Nick.
I love you.
Come to bed when you can.
Miss you.
