[identity profile] jengeorge.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] nickngreg

It figures that I get tagged when I am away from my computer for a day and a half!  Sorry for the delay....

I always find it weird to talk about my self but I suppose that is the point of this whole thing and it's been great to find out more about the others in the community, so hopefully you're not bored to death to learn about me.

I'm Jennie and I'm thirty-eight.  I'm fairly new to LJ and and a very recent follower of Nick/Greg and CSI.

I originally became interested in online fandoms through my love of Harry Potter.  It was great to find other adults to be able to discuss the stories and themes woven throughout the story with.  I moved into fan fiction as a way to continue to be able to enjoy reading about the characters while waiting for the next book to come out.  Eventually I began to beta for writers and they would continue to recommend stories I might enjoy.  I do write some, but have always loved the editing side of the creative process.

Of course my first foray into slash pairings was Harry/Draco which eventually led me to the amazing, talented, and all around cool [livejournal.com profile] sarasgirl  and her fantastic HP Reparations/Foundations series (which, seriously, even if you've never read Harry Potter you should read anyway.  Trust me.)  After working my way through her HP stuff (about a year ago) I told her I enjoyed her work so much I was thinking of reading her CSI writing, even though I had never seen the show.  She suggested I read "A Certain Sunset" to get started since it was set pre-show.

I completely blame her for my current Nick/Greg addiction.

I quickly read all of her CSI stuff (don't even get me started on "Nine Love Songs" or we'll be here all day!), and to gain a better understanding, started to watch the older episodes on Spike.  And I LOVED IT!  I can't believe I missed it all these years (my only excuse is I am also a huge Grey's Anatomy fan that is on at the same time).

Thanks to ebay, I was able to get the first eight seasons on DVD and watch them in order and it quickly became apparent why so many people have caught onto the Nick/Greg subtext! I love when they just casually reference each other when talking to someone else and I am hard pressed to pick a favorite moment, though I am particularly fond of Greg's looks during Nick's whole pornstache phase.

Currently I am enjoying [info]rusty_the_train's Bare Bones story (even though I never comment; I am a terrible lurker)

I am a very fast reader with an insatiable appetite for the written word, so over the summer while watching my kids swim, I read pretty much the entire WMTDB archive (no, I am not kidding!).  Talk about jumping in with both feet!

And then I read all of [livejournal.com profile] carolinecrane  's writing.  Holy cow!!!! Truly, she is on a whole different level. I'm currently working my way through her entire archive, which is HUGE.

It had been wonderful to get to read so many gifted writers in this fandom, and for their writing to introduce me to other fandoms they enjoy as well. This fandom and community is what brought me to LJ as well, and though I don't know many people yet, I am slowly getting out there.

I haven't posted any Nick/Greg fic yet, but *smiles nervously* am actually in the process of writing one.  I've got about six chapters done, but I want to get to ten before I put it out for public veiwing so I know where it's headed. (My absolute biggest pet peave is an unfinished story-  I'm sure I am not the only one!)

So there you have it.  I'm certain that is more than anyone wanted to know, but I do have a tendency to ramble.

Thanks for reading..... I now tag: [info]lil_love_fan
