S7Ep13: Redrum
In last week's classic we already mentioned Nick's herocomplex (S1Ep11); in this episode from season 7 he is going all out when he thinks Catherine and Keppler are hiding something. Watch him go all alpha male; Greg is a little overwhelmed...
And so are we. We can't even think of subtext, because all of Nick's frustrations are right there on the surface! Grab your woobie and hold on:

"...and then he WINKED at me!"
;-)
We hardly dared to breathe during all this and like Greg felt quite intimidated by fierceful Nick. How about you? There is room to cling to each other in the comments!

Date: 2010-01-19 10:31 pm (UTC)That last cap is the confrontation scene; when Catherine and Keppler tell the team why they did what they did. Nick is standing behind Greg being all pissy, still.

Your sense of humor gets me every time. I love it.
I was very proud of Nick in this one. It seemed the final transition from the Nick who always followed the rules and the orders of Grissom and Catherine without question, to the take-charge Nick we know now.
The buzz cut, beefed-up body and leather jacket really added to his intimidating presence.
I always felt this was a real turning point for Gregg as well. He seemed so confidant and natural when he said (something to the effect of) You didn’t think we’d figure it out? It’s what we do.
That was the first time I really felt that Greg was a full-fledged CSI and not the new guy in training.

Date: 2010-01-26 10:17 pm (UTC)Yes, this was a very significant episode for Nick's development; it was the first time he was able to redirect his anger and act on it. In the old days he would either explode or sulk. I really felt he had the potential to be the next supervisor and it was a shame his disagreement with Catherine's method wasn't explored in later episodes.
Greg was finally part of the team here, not just the ex-labrat. I loved his confidence in the confrontation scene.
